We just watched the first two episodes, and we both thought that they were probably the worst two episodes of the series. We're not giving up on the series, but I'm just curious when people thought this season started getting good. No spoilers please...

Yes, I know there is probably an 'official' thread on this season, but I didn't feel like dealing with spoilers.

There was so much greatness in this season I don't really know where to begin.

Just let each of the three storylines ramp up. They will incrementally as the season progresses. One will diverge to two and then back to one. By that point the pacing and the payoff will be all worth it. But so much happens in the last two episodes that you have to be patient for the first six to set the stage.

Stay with it.

I was underwhelmed thru the first couple of episodes as well. Starts to pick up either ep 3 or 4 and continues to roll from there.

I've only watched the first episode and it was pretty meh.
To be fair, anything after season 1 was gonna be a letdown. It's just impossible to recapture what they did in season 1, what with all the kids growing up.

I think episode 3 or 4 on were pretty awesome. You'll know the moment it gets good when you hit it. I also felt the start was slow.

Stick with it. I didn't like the first couple of episodes either. But at some point later, I really began to enjoy it.

I didn't really like that it seemed to go from sci-fi show to horror in season 4 but grew on me throughout the season.

In the end I really enjoyed it.

This happens in the fourth episode, "Dear Billy". The same episode features a separate all-time moment for the series. If you're not into it by the end of this one, then you have terrible taste and should be ashamed of yourself. It's a great season.

I'm sorry to be the dissenting voice here, but the Hopper in Russia storyline and the California storyline were both big piles of boring,"meh" to me.

I didn't mind the California stuff, but I agree on Russia. That storyline only needed about half of the time it got and kept the season from being really great.

Because I watched most of S4 with my spouse, and it still did nothing for me. I didn't give S2 or S3 a chance after trying to get through S1.

I was ready to bail after the first two episodes, but so glad I kept with it. I think it may have been episode 4 or 5 when it started picking up for me.

I was frustrated after episode 2 - but once the payoffs start, I thought it was all really worth it. I went back and watched the earlier episodes & enjoyed them more on a second viewing.

For a little criticism on the season as a whole, it did feel like there was stuff that could have been cut, but I can appreciate the go big or go home nature of this season.

Watch through ep 4 and this summer's Billboard Top 40 will make a lot more sense.

(And it's one of, if not THE, best episodes of the series).

Nothing is worse than that Eleven one off episode in Season 2 lol.

Also Season 4 rules. I enjoyed all of it but I know many people who felt the same way after the first two episodes.

My only issue with this season was the Russia storyline as well. I hate when writers take back meaningful deaths in general, but I also just didn't care about any of that.

But I loved this season.

Its mindless entertainment with classic 80's callbacks and based largely off of call of cthulhu - with a mix of 16 candles and breakfast club. I've enjoyed it mainly because its one show my wife and i both like. If you're looking for westworld this aint it.
