Whatever you're doing, stop right now, open up HBO Max, and watch the pilot for The Rehearsal, Nathan Fielder's new series. It debuted last night, is basically Nathan for You on steroids (seriously, HBO spared no expense), and is so weird and so awkward and easily one of the funniest, most brilliant things I've seen in I don't know how long. Holy hell. It's six episodes total, over the next few weeks, and if the remaining five are anywhere near as incredible as the first, we might very well be in all-time territory here...

The Rehearsal

Also, this thread should be five pages long by now. Things like "getting out of the house" and "going outside" and "spending time with your family" this weekend should pale in priority.

Got back from vacation not to long ago and completely forgot about this show on HBO. Caught it today thanks to TCTTS it did not disappoint. I watched Nathan for you in the past and HBO must have given the new show unlimited amount of money.

The whole episode had me laughing and that ending! Definitely going to tell my friend about this show as he loved Nathan for you.

Very convincing post. Will check this out not knowing who Nathan Fielder is or what Nathan For You is.

Hell yeah.

If you end up liking The Rehearsal, I highly recommend going back and checking out Nathan for You. It's amazing. I'm jealous you get to watch it all for the first time.

Good grief this ****ing guy is the master of awkward situations. Great pilot. This thing could easily become ****ty but I have all the faith that it won't based off his past work.

Just watched. Did HBO give him a blank check?

It's incredible, BTW

Just watched the first episode, and I must come clean: I thought it was uncomfortably weird from beginning to end.

You have to watch The Boys first

It's not going to get any less uncomfortable, I can promise you. If you don't find him funny, might just not be your style of humor.

Hold on. You're telling us to watch this (yes, I watched the first episode last night, just not my cup of tea I guess), but you've never watched The Boys?!

I can't stop thinking about the last scene.

I wish they dumped all of the episodes at once so I could binge it.

I'm not super familiar with Nathan Fielder, but are these people *actually* real?? "Kor Skeet??" His hair looked spray painted on. Holy lord that was so uncomfortably hilarious.

That was incredible. I had high expectations after Nathan For You, which I love, and it surpassed them. His shows are such an interesting take on humanity and shine a light on the unseen of society. Plus, he's just hilarious and his attention to detail is unreal. So many little bits that had me cracking up, none moreso than the fake bartender saying she didn't know how to make a margarita. Also, it was uncanny how spot on the Kor actor was with the trivia answers response at the end. You could tell that was *exactly* what the real Kor wanted to say.

Can't wait for more episodes.

Watched it last night. Fan of Nathan For You but didn't really know what to make of this. Will give it another chance tho. Kept thinking about how close I came to being murdered if I had made the girlfriend watch too. Just glad I took the " I'll just preview this one first before suggesting a possible new show for us"

That was seriously great, one of the more unique ideas for a show I can think of and had so much depth and attention to detail. I may need to watch again, but on the last scene, is the idea that he told him about the clues and then immediately followed up with how great of a guy he was? Or that he practiced telling him and then never actually did it?

He practiced telling him and it went poorly, so he didn't tell the real Kor.

My wife can't accept that she likes Nathan Fielder. When I was watching Nathan For You, she would complain and say how dumb it was. She would start the episode on her phone trying to ignore it, and would be watching it and laughing by the end. Then she went would say how stupid it was. Every episode, and it was the same with The Rehearsal.

When the bartender said that, I assumed he was going to go all out getting her trained to make every kind of drink imaginable just in case to help the rehearsals seem more real. Kind of surprised he didn't honestly.

Between this and producing 'How To with John Wilson', Fielder is just making it rain with creative ideas.

First episode was genius, and loved the Willy Wonka bit and needle-drop where Nathan is basically confessing that maybe he's the bad guy running the factory.

At the end, did the guy bring his friend back into the fake apartment? So did he confess that it was all scripted and practiced? I might have just missed it but seems like that would have been an interesting conversation.
