And Fox news will get at least 30-40 hours of programming out of it.

They definitely won't be using that word in the reboot.

I was hoping the reboot would have Sam's daughter in a big role. Oh well, I'll probably watch anyway

There already was a reboot of Quantum Leap. It's called It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Is that why it's been in reruns? They cut out "******ed" from that episode on SyFy.

Network TV seems to be dying a slow death. There hasn't been a decent drama or sitcom for decades. I only watch it for sports, local weather (if a big storm is coming), and maybe an occasional Dateline type show. This show will almost definitely suck.

I don't know if it's from an episode or just a commercial aired during football games, but the CGI from when he leapt into mid-1980s Joe Montana looked awful

Have networks really run out of ideas? Just recycle old sht?
I get that it's hard to compete with entertainment on demand, but that means, if you're broadcast, you need to make content that people are compelled to tune into. Don't tell me this can't be done.

AMC did it with BB, TWD, BCS. HBO did it with GOTs

People will tune in for weekly released shows if the quality is there. Although they were at the start of the streaming era, I would argue Lost and Heroes were probably the last shows broadcast networks had gripped audiences for weekly consumption.

Maybe they have gotten burned too often by shows like Under the Dome and Jericho, but it really only takes one good show to buoy your reputation.

Man I was such a Hero's fan boy that first season. Loved the concept and the possibilities.

The cliff that it went over with the writers strike was Grand Canyon-esque.

I think heros could have been one of the greats, if it had been better planned.
Season 1 - save the girl
Season 2 - save the world

At least one 20-year veteran is concerned for future opportunities for young, inexperienced writers:
https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2022-08-27/broadcast-television-tv-writers-streaming

Quote:

And people new to the industry who do get a writing job have fewer opportunities to learn other aspects of the business. In the streaming model, all episodes of a show are typically written ahead of production, with the showrunner often being the only member of a writers room to stay on through shooting post-production.

This means that writers growing up in the new system are getting senior positions often having written only a handful of episodes without ever having set foot on a set, talked to actors and directors or dealt with a budget breakdown.

The most, and possibly only, memorable part about The Cape was Abed's short-lived obsession with it in Community.

I did.
It's not terrible, but probably not long for this world.
