I'll be the first to admit, I love these movies. They are just popcorn brainless fun. Johnny Depps portrayal of this character is among the most iconic and revered of many characters in movies today. His personal life aside, I say go for it.

Johnny Depp strikes me as the kind of guy who says no over and over right up to the point where the Brinks truck with $200 million shows up at his door.

I thought the last one sucked. Was that the one with the boat in the desert and he was hallucinating? Or was that real? I don't remember.

That was the third one; at World's End. There have been 2 more since then. On Stranger Tides, which I thought was awful, and Dead Man tell No Tales, which was better, but none of them have approached #1.

Fourth was meh. Five was pretty fun.

That, and one of my good friends is *very* close to these movies, has worked on all five of them, and is the same friend who gave me all my Top Gun: Maverick info (both franchises being Jerry Bruckheimer productions), who has assured me in no uncertain terms that there will be no more Johnny Depp Pirates movies. Disney already couldn't stand Depp *before* all this Heard stuff went down. He was a massive headache on the fifth movie, and they had already moved on from him long before the accusations. So no way they're "apologizing" to him with some insane, $300M deal, seeing as the accusations weren't the cause of the rift, they were merely the nail in the coffin.

Time to have Depp be the dad and have baby jack sparrow run things. Unfortunately, he grows at 4 years for every 1 year. Baby jack grew up on a farm and had a low IQ.

Not only is the son a dumb captain now, he also works for the newly formed American government to save us from the Galactic Empire

Maybe Robert Downey Jr would be interested, and Depp can come onboard to play the Iron Brotherhood leader or whatever they're calling it

After the last few is anyone really clamoring for a 6th? Don't get me wrong, I love the first two, but the rest just don't do much for me. I don't even remember what happened in the last 2.

I also can't imagine Disney would even try to make one of these right now for no other reason other than there's no guarantee of a huge return on investment. Regardless of the fact that Depp might not be the toxic asset he was considered for a few years.

Disney is currently re-imaging the franchise with Margot Robbie. No idea if it's a continuation, or something new, but they're actively developing a new Pirates movie that Margot Robbie will star in.

I thought I read somewhere that Disney was trying to work a reboot with Zach Efron as jack sparrow… or some sort.

Margot Robbie as a lead pirate is believable and fun. …but does it feel like we are just trying to take all the male lead characters and then redo a movie with it as a female lead character of the same type now?

That's it. Margot Robbie. I like her and she's hot, but it's Johnny Depp or nothing for me as far as POTC is concerned.
