The summer movie/TV season is officially upon us.

Two massive blockbusters this month (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Top Gun: Maverick), probably the two biggest shows of the year, somehow dropping on the same day (Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi and season four of Stranger Things), and a whole lot more. Not to mention, the first trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water debuts in theaters later this week, and in a throwback to when pop singles written for blockbusters were common place, Lady Gaga even has a new song/music video dropping this Tuesday for Top Gun: Maverick.

In other words, it's about to be pop culture overload, in the best way, and full steam ahead for what should be a fun next few weeks/months…

I've been waiting to see Obi-Wan and ANYTHING from Avatar 2 for literally 10+ years.

Needless to say, this is a big month for me.

Are we seeing more limited series than in the past? I can't tell if I've just never noticed it or if it's actually a thing now with streaming. I feel like it's a great format for those stories that really need more than a movie but weren't meant to be a true series. They don't have to try and come up with new material for something that wasn't meant to go on forever.

Definitely feels that way.

In other words, no Doctor Strange, Obi-Wan, or Top Gun.

I hadn't seen this trailer. I grew up down the street from where Candy lived. We moved there a couple of years after this all happened and I was 4 at the time. I remember hearing about it at some point as a kid. It was one of those things where when you road by her house on your bike with other kids from the neighborhood they'd say things like "that's where the axe lady lived". Always gave me the creeps.

I had no idea this series was happening. And a quick google and HBO has their own version coming out this year too. Wild.

Oh, wow, that's amazing. Ha, I bet you never pictured her as Jessica Biel. Looks interesting, though. Will definitely give it a shot.

Ditto, definitely thankful for these. I relax with my son before bedtime by doing some Wordle and then checking out various threads on Texags...the Sneakers thread, any show threads that we're watching, and of course these trailer threads to see what we need to get excited for.

I've watched the first two episodes and think it's pretty good. It's funny seeing that area look so remote compared to current day.

I tuned in to Candy just out of curiosity. When I heard Plano and Wylie, I was hooked as my aunt and uncle moved to Wylie in the late 70's when Wylie was still kind of out in the country. I am not sure how much of Candy was filmed in that area though. I remember attending a church like that when we went to visit one time. Maybe she was there too.

It was filmed in Georgia. Probably tough to make Wylie/Plano look that remote these days.
