I really enjoyed them. Lots of condensing happened to fit the books into the show.

I read the first one after watching the season and really enjoyed it, but I have 50 million other books to read on a list so not sure when I'll get to the rest.

The books are way bettter than the show, with way more stuff that was chopped out so they could fit them into tv show formats.

IMO, the books and the show are miles apart in so many ways.

Waited too long to make it. Half the cast didn't want to come back. Tried to pretend Uhtred was old

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the first 2-3 seasons were written and/or directed by the same guy, who then left the show. After that, IMO, the writing went dramatically downhill, so noticeable to the extent that I stopped watching. And by that point I had started reading the books and was more intrigued by them than the lackluster job the show did in translating the books onto film.
