Didn't see a thread, but The Last Kingdom S5 drops on Netflix March 9th. Final season, 10 episodes.

I binged the whole series last summer and am really looking forward to this. Seems a shame this is the final season given there is a lot more content out there to use.

I'm so ready . Really hoping Mark Rowley that plays Finan springboards into bigger things when this is done . Like I've said before this show has been the most consistent when compared to Vikings and GOT .

I sympathize with Uhtred. Man can't keep those he loves alive to save his life. I kinda am emotionally preparing for that to be the case again this season.

Top 5 series for me…. I've read all 13 books of the Saxon Series and can't recommend the books and series enough.
No spoilers, but there will be a Netflix movie to completely wrap things up after Season 5. I believe they just finished shooting and will be released this time next year.

Disappointed in the writing in the final season. Sorta cartoonish. Really enjoyed the series, though. After rewatching seasons 1-4 to get ready for 5, it went downhill after Alfred died and really went south for 5. Liked the ending to the series.

I just saw the final episode. That's the way a series should end. Great ending for a great show.

Too bad Game of Thrones didn't employ The Last Kingdom's writers for its last episode.

I love GoT. But let's not act like Cornwell and Martin are equals in the storytelling realm. Martin built an incredible world but got lost in it.

Cornwell is like the Russians. He doesn't take a dump without a plan.

Just finished season 5. This was a great series. Sad it is over and would like another season but that's how I know it is an amazing show and better to go off on a high note than end up like Dexter (before they brought it back).

Some of the twists and turns in season 5 we're great.

The one issue I have is how they made Stigtrygger always be one step behind this season. Last season he was the cold calculating machine who was always one step ahead and he became one of if not my favorite character. But this season it seemed that everyone he went up against was always one step ahead which didn't fit the character they had made him to be in season 4. But that's my only real gripe. Great series!

Great point. It stunk to see it happen but it's definitely understandable. He finally saw through it though.

Yeah, makes sense.

I just went and rewatched the first 4 seasons after finishing season 5 and Sigtryggr made a comment to Edward in season 4 about how his weakness was that Edward had a family while he did not. It probably wasn't meant as a foreshadowing in season 5 but I thought it was interesting since that is what led to Sigtryggr's demise.

Finally finished this season. I too did a rewatch leading up to it so I had everything more fresh in my mind. I still think overall it was a really good series, though I can't say I would call it great.

I agree it ended as well as it could have though. I found myself really caring about a lot of the characters and their outcomes and this was pretty satisfying.

I think if I had to rank them I think I'd go - Season 1, Season 2, Season 5, Season 4, Season 3

Read the books. They're 100x bettter than the show and there's like a dozen of them.
