Tuned him out. And dislike of him and the "colonel". It's so sad to me how many people took advantage of Elvis. I guess it was just ignorance of business that doomed him to that evil man. Or laziness. There's so many scenes that are awesome to watch. I love the Little Richard scene. Probably didn't happen in real life but I'm ok with the theatre license taken. The real images of Elvis were fun but too glossed over. Could've had more screen time, imo.
The movie played pretty fast and loose with that aspect of the story. Thousands of articles repeat the same allegations against Parker keeping Elvis from earning international tour money, or making more money than Elvis to pay his own gambling debts. But there's little evidence that Elvis was more interested in touring than he was in banging young actresses/fans, and partying with his friends.
On that last note, I think the movie could have been more interesting, and possibly more accurate, had it focused more on the relationships between Elvis and his manager-father, and his lifelong friends & relatives that he kept on the payroll. Elvis never had any real money problems once he made it big, but if we're talking about him and his estate not getting as much money as he could have, then Vernon & the entourage are a big part of that story.
Aside from that, Hanks' accent was just distracting and probably what kept me from liking the movie more or wanting to rewatch.
*and I also only saw the movie recently, so I tried to skip these threads when they were current.
