Cutting from Buss worrying about money as he eats lobster in a Speedo, to him yelling "tally-ho" as he cannon balls into a hotel pool full bikini-clad women, to a montage of McKinney going over the Xs and Os like some kind of savant out of The Social Network, literally floating above his chair, to Magic talking trash on the court, is everything I could have possibly wanted from this show.

All that, plus Magic and Norm joining forces and everything snapping into place at the end… so damn good.

Absolutely loving this now.

Also if you are still young enough and can afford it, Palm Springs during Coachella seems like a great time. I was there a few years ago for work during that time and it was like spring break for early 30's just in Vegas without the casino floors.

I'm impressed too as I expected it to look really amateurish but the actor playing Magic has his high dribble and no look passes down and the actor playing Kareem can actually perform a nice skyhook.

Show is a B+. I'm getting comfortable with the stylistic choices but it still lacks the next level. Definitely enjoyable though.

While waiting for episode 5 to hit I went back and watched the 10 year old documentary Magic & Bird. It's also on HBO Max and really good, especially putting some of the Winning Time scenes in context.

Both actors played college sports, which helps a lot. Magic was a D lineman and Kareem is actually 7' (or close to it) I believe.

Both actors played college sports, which helps a lot. Magic was a D lineman and Kareem is actually 7' (or close to it) I believe.
And it doesn't have to look all world, just passable, which it is. Heck, Bull Durham is still a fantastic movie despite Nuke's 102 MPH fastball being shot putted at 40 MPH by Tim Robbins.

Laughed a little to hard at the way coach slid along the pavement.

Otherwise, that was a pretty quick episode. What little I remember about Kareem as a kid, the actor is nailing him on the show.

I've enjoyed this part because Paul Westhead was one of the pioneers in the run-and-gun offense, so it is interesting to see where it started.

Another good episode although I would have liked to see how they fared in the Denver game but I think they didn't want to spoil the reveal at the end that Jack has been in a coma for two weeks.

Also loved the Phil Knight stuff and how Magic would be worth several billions today had he taken it...DOH!

Of course that begs the question...if Nike has the "Air" Magics does Jordan go with another shoe company to really brand himself and make him distinct or does he still go with them since obviously their styles of play are MUCH different.

Episode 7 was my favorite so far. The back and forth with Bird and the Celtics is going to be a blast. That whole dynamic was just so perfect, I can't believe how lucky the NBA was to have it fall into their lap.

And Riley, I loved the way it felt like a super hero origin story with him losing the 'stache and going to the slicked back hair (like dad) when he transformed into the coach he was destined to be.

Show is really hitting a new stride, and I'm here for it.
