This thread plays like it's a "woman thing" but my wife is a huge movie fan. If anything, it was me dragging my feet to movies. But in general, I am always in for epics as is she. So LOTR and SW plus any superhero movies, she is totally in. It is the independent movies I would be more hesitant about seeing but usually go. Many ended being very enjoyable. Over the years, now that we have young children, we end up just seeing the bigger movies and now that our daughter is old enough, she is all in too. It's our 6 year old boy who still has issues sitting through movies. He was very wiggly during Spider-Man NWH, and b/c of that my wife missed a lot calming him down. I sat next to my daughter and she balled at certain parts and loved it.
Anyway, I think it's more of a spouse not being into certain movies type of thing vs a wife thing. There are plenty of guys I know that don't like a lot of the movies listed....
One of the biggest things to me is how a lot of the epic movies are seen as "kids" movies to the older generations. My parents are in their 80s and my dad still laughs at having to see movies like SW ep 4-6. I doubt he would like the MCU much. My in-laws are younger though, and seem to be totally in with Star Wars, a lot of the MCU movies etc. I notice the same thing with music. I am 48 and listen to new rap and hard rock. I have really never liked pop after the 4th or 5th grade. But will listen to a new song from Future and jam out. My parents probably would have never listened to Run DMC or Van Halen back in the 80's. Granted, I credit my father with introducing me to Big Band and older country which I still love.
