I recommend seeing Archive 81 on Netflix. It is based on a podcast I listened to a couple years ago. Finished watching the first episode last night and it was really strong.

It is about a man in 2022 restoring flame damaged camcorder tapes for a company called LMG at their isolated research compound. They are of a young grad student named Melody Pendras in 1994 interviewing people in the Visser apartment complex in New York City. Some xfiles level creepy **** shows up in these tapes.

If it follows the podcast even loosely it gets into some Lovecraftianesque horror

On episode 3 now. Sort of reminds me of "Cigarette Burns" from Masters of Horrors.

As a fan of the podcast, this definitely deviated from the source but I still really enjoyed it. Wish it could have been more cosmic horror than what we got but I will take it. The cast was really solid. Glad I binged it

Finished episode 1 last night.... VERY impressed!
Pretty creepy slow burn so far. Normally I lose interest in stuff like this, but it kept doing just enough to keep me hooked.

Has anyone else noticed the symbol on the head of the "idol"? It looks a lot like the pedophile triangle.

Started episode 1 while my wife was asleep and stopped so we could watch together. Very creepy vibes and you can kind of see where some of the connections are leading. Looking forward to getting in to the show this evening and glad someone started a thread.

It looked like the same symbol on the outside of the building to me.

No, the actual idol itself. I cannot remember which episode you finally get to see the idol but I don't think it was that early. I binged the series in two days and they all run together in my memory.

Finished episode 2 last night. Completely screwed up. the scene where they are all worshipping the statue was completely wtf. Very creepy.

Just finished the last episode. The entire season was really good. Anything I post would be a spoiler so I'm just going to give a thumbs up and recommend it to anyone who likes spooky and thought provoking stories.

Just finished watching this series, and it was great! Kind of reminded me of Dark and Stranger Things. I hope thee will be a season two!

I thought the main guy did an amazing job acting. The girl was a little weaker, but still good.

Around episode 4 I noticed that her eyes are completely lopsided and I can't unsee it.

Watching last episode tonight. Really really love this show. Will definitely look to have some discussion with others who have finished it once we wrap it up.

Binged 4 episodes and the acting on this show is pretty bad.

I didn't notice bad acting. And if I don't notice, the average person likely doesn't. I'm not a movie snob (not saying any of you are), don't go looking for acting chops, and just want to get reasonably lost in the story. And I got reasonably lost in this story.

Apparently there are Easter eggs all over, but especially episode 1, that not only tie into what happens later in the season, but also will tie into future seasons, maybe even beyond a second one. Not sure what those references are, but I'm excited to re-watch and try and spot them. I love when a show is well thought out. And this one was awesome in that regard. I'm pretty excited to see a potential expanded budget. I think we could see a quality jump similar to Stranger Things, which has a lot of shared themes with this material

It has been a hot minute since the first season of the podcast, but the weird commercial interstitials while new for the show were a big fixture of the 3rd season of the podcast

YES. I saw it very early on. I'm glad someone else saw it too. I found it blatantly obvious. I've been distributed by it since. I cross referenced; no mention of it on Google.
