Saw Spider-Man in XD twice and in IMAX the 3rd time. XD picture looked good and sound was fine… but a little too strong in the mid-range so it felt loud sorta often.

The IMAX presentation was SOO good! The sound was loud but well balanced and "thick" and "rich" in the lows. The surround effects were crystal clear and very present. The picture quality was outstanding and it's the first time I saw a full framed IMAX ratio that actually made the presentation feel bigger as a value add and not a gimmick.

I normally do XD cause I like Cinemark better but holy cow, that IMAX though.

I've been in some IMAX presentations that felt "noisy" before but this was spot on.

Does the experience vary theater by theater in terms of quality or is it closely governed by the "imax" "xd" "Dolby" name brands?

Any other thoughts for presentation format? What about a Dolby theater presentation. Any experience for comparison?

General consensus seems to be:

Laser IMAX > Dolby > XD > Digital IMAX > Digital

Not evenly distributed gaps either
