The worst person in Home Alone? The ignorant shopkeeper that doesn't know if a toothbrush that he carries is approved by the American Dental Association. That's how you lose a customer.

Have they ever said what Kevin's father does for a living? Feels like he's a Chicago mob guy. Takes his entire family out of the city seemingly every Christmas. Shows basically no concern for his kid when left alone, like he's been training him for such an event his whole life. Kevin basically never appears scared for his life, he's enjoying himself. Every trap leads to pain, permanent injury, and brings a smile to his face. Not saying the wet bandits don't deserve it, to both rob a household and flood it deserves retribution. Kevin is sending a message, his father's message. If you come at the McCallister crime family, you best not miss.

I have no doubt that Kevin grew up to be a serial killer. He basically built a murder house to entrap the criminals. Would it surprise anyone to find out that every Christmas Kevin recreates his house of horrors, and tricks bums on the street into the house so he can "play with them." His lack of parental attention, coupled with his desire to inflict pain on others, no doubt will lead to Kevin being one messed up adult.

He calls the police in the midst of his house of terror escapades. The phones were down for a time, but days before Harry and Marv break in they're back up. Harry and Marv figure out that the Mccallisters really did go on vacation while burglarizing one of their neighbors because the dad leaves a message on the neighbors voice machine asking if they can check on Kevin.

Kevin avoids the police untl the end because he shoplifted a toothbrush after being frightened by the old man.

You know you're an adult when you realize you're more angry at the water damage than anything else marv and harry did combined.

Anyway, I can sort of understand those who think 2 is better than 1. They're basically the exact same movie, you could watch either one first. The hotel employees are funny, but the estranged father in the first movie is more touching.

Fair point, I was just pointing out that the phones did in fact work.

Looking back though, it is touching how hard the mom tried to get back home. Hitchhiking with strangers and all that, begging to trade airline seats.

My memory is fuzzy, but the dad in comparison seemed to be like well if I lose one, we'll just make another one.
