On episode 6 now. I kinda like it, just some low brow psychological thriller. Rolled my eyes at how like half the characters had to be gay.

The monologue in Ep8 was a bit annoying, hit both sides of the political spectrum. Very preachy and felt a bit out of place.

Pretty sure there isn't a standard monogamous couple in the whole thing. Wife and I both rolled our eyes pretty hard at that, but I suppose it lends credence to them all being weird twisted ****bags

They are all likely LGTBQ+ because it makes it easier to explain why there is only 1 grandchild.

I would rank it ahead of Midnight Club personally (which I never finished), but definitely below Midnight Mass and both Haunting shows.

Certainly not bad, but not quite on the level of those for me. I think the reason is we don't spend too much time with the six Usher siblings and don't end up caring about them as much as the characters in those other shows.

Maybe because they are sociopath soulless people?

We loved this one despite a couple of eye rolling scenes (ex: almost every pic of Verna in the past was with Republicans aside from Dorkberg. lol whatever).

Looking forward to his next project Life of Chuck and then....the big one....Dark Tower. He does that right and it's Star Wars and LOTR level watch for me.

2 Episodes in and it will put you asleep.

Then you clearly didn't make it to the end of episode 2

Felt a little sleezy watching that episode, but it's not all that way.

I thought the series was pretty good and enjoyed it. Not as good as Hill House which was amazing, but still pretty good.

Reading the comments is a good reminder not to take this board seriously.

Doesn't account for the prosecutor, but I'm also not sure if he's supposed to be a bad guy too.

Hill House was a masterpiece.

I didnt want to try and dig up the original Hill House thread, but we just finished our Halloween-time re-watch of Haunting of Hill House (a Rangers World Series run pushed us a few weeks back).

Realized how it is far closer an adaptation of King's The Shining than it really is of Jackson's Hill House. Obviously it takes some lines and a few scenes from Jackson's novel, but the heart of the story is The Shining (King's version, not Kubrick's).

Which makes sense since he's a big King fan apparently.

Just now finishing this up.

Liked it. Thought it did what it set out to do well (weave in all of Poe's works into one big story, each with a payoff at the end of each episode).

But it's because of that same reason that it's definitely not one of my favorite Flanagan works. Too disjointed. It almost becomes an anthology series.

I'd rank it 3rd of his Netflix works, but a big gap between it and #2 (Midnight Mass).

I'm a big fan of Poe's work, but I doubt I'll find myself re-watching this whereas I've already re-watched Hill House 3x and Midnight Mass twice.
