it's a dump.
and I lived in that area in the early 80s.
it looks the same.
It's not perfect, but it changed a lot in the 90s and 00s. But go ahead and judge a place you knew 40 years ago.

I get what you're saying but id happily love in San Leon and dodge crackheads daily if my wife was on board or there was a decent private school close. I guess I have a thing for run down galveston bay towns that are littered with a handful of nice homes, hole in the wall restaurants, trailer parks, meth dens and boat ramps. Its really my speed.

I might not pick San Leon, but you've nailed it with this post. Great place to live.

In the greater DFW area probably. That's where everyone that thinks their **** don't stank lives. It's the Mecca for born Texans who want to be "Texan" and think they are better than you, while Austin is the Mecca for non-Texans who want to be "Texan" with the feel of California.
Disclaimer: I was born and partially raised in Galveston County and have mostly lived in Buda/Kyle for the last 22 years. My absolute disdain for DFW also has excessively influenced my opinion.
