Anyone seen this or have it on the radar? Very intrigued by the trailer and love a chance to see some authentic-looking Texas settings on film.

I saw that trailer a while back and I'm definitely intrigued. Anything made by A24 is normally worth watching.

Saw them filming in Kemah, had no idea most of the film was shot in Texas City.

Holy **** bass taxidermy logo right at the beginning of the trailer. I've got 6 mounts from them.

Seabrook to galveston and everything in between is a great mix of nice and trashy small town coastal Texas. Oysters at gilhhoolies, launching the boat at the dike, cruising clear lake etc etc. It's all fantastic. Sure a lot of it is a dump, but I'm not so uppity that I'm above that.

As someone who grew up on the ship channel and spent most of high school tooling around Kemah, Seabrook, and Clear Lake I cannot possible say I ever used the term fantastic to describe any of it.

Depressing, sure. Fantastic, not so much.

Being from SE Texas I'm always reminded of Rust's line in True Detective Season 1.

I get what you're saying but id happily love in San Leon and dodge crackheads daily if my wife was on board or there was a decent private school close. I guess I have a thing for run down galveston bay towns that are littered with a handful of nice homes, hole in the wall restaurants, trailer parks, meth dens and boat ramps. Its really my speed.

That said, the golden triangle area is def much more depressing, but id still live there for the right gig.

If I told my wife we were moving to Texas City she'd probably respond with "I'm leaving you and taking the kids."

Haha same. There are a handful of nice spreads in the area on some land that are technically Texas City but the stigma is just too great to overcome.

Places I recognize just from the trailer. Skyline park, TC Dike, the drive down 45 South to Galveston, Galveston Pier, Kemah Bullet roller-coaster, El Hardin Beach, 9th street TC.

i'm down in Dickinson, Texas City and Clear Lake areas for work a good bit. There's definitely a small town feel to the area with some nice houses and eateries, but i usually am not thinking I'd want to live there.

movie looks fun in a weird A24 sort of way.

Yea I dont live there but in the vicinity in a nice suburb area. I'm over there quite often. There are some nice hoods that keep the methheads away but still give you the benefits of loving in coastal Texas imo. Clear lake area is a different speed than the rest of Houston which I really like.
