Great family movie for the holidays!

Disney has really been knocking it out of the park in the last 10 years.

I knew nothing about it but my wife and daughter wanted to see it.

It was wonderful!

It is a great family movie with a solid message and no woke bs to ruin it.

Highly recommend!

Looked it up; about a Colombian but voiced by an Argentinian... cancel Disney.

Live in Bogota...tried a couple of times to see it this weekend, but theatres were sold out for obvious reasons. Looking forward to catching this one soon!

Great movie, they never leave the town and barely leave their house and it never gets boring. The water in the river effects are stunning how lifelike they are.

A great message about caring for the people in your family instead of caring what other people think about your family.

Saw it today, and in the beginning, I hated it because it was way too much singing. About midway through the movie, I found myself loving it! So bizarre! But I think I got the message of the movie.

It does an amazing job of displaying family dynamics that are uncomfortable to express. It shows Jealousy of a siblings abilities or success, then takes you into that siblings perspective and shows you how they are suffering with the talents they have. An amazing journey! Not to mention the symbolism of a parent creating an enchanted life for their children while the parent has struggled to create this life for them. Then the realization that the parent has lost their way trying to keep up this enchantment. Such a great film that had me feeling emotions and identifying with some of the characters. Definitely will watch this again.

It was definitely more of a musical than other modern Disney movies. Pacing was off here and there, but overall I thought it was pretty damn good and made me tear up a little at the end which doesn't happen to me too often.

The kids enjoyed the film and watched again yesterday now that it's streaming. They "don't talk about Bruno" now.

I thought the music sounded very familiar and looked up that Lin Manuel was involved. His sound doesn't deviate touch from his Hamilton days, which isn't a bad thing.

Knew nothing about it. Watched it today with the kids. They tuned out, I stuck with it but it was hard to watch. Sorry, I just didn't get it and thought it was boring and awful.

Oh...and Merry Christmas!

I like most Disney movies but this one just didn't do it for me. Don't get me wrong, kids loved it and have been playing the soundtrack for the last 2 days. The plot just fell super flat with the whole grandma causing the family to lose the magic and then just getting it back so easily.

Watched it last night. 7/10. Was it me or was the dialogue hard to make out at points? Animation was on point and the messaging (family cohesion) was clear enough, but I thought the musical numbers were too heavy-handed. The minute the strong sister started singing, I was like 'She's using that Hamilton flow…' and then I couldn't stop thinking about it.

FWIW, I did not like Hamilton.

Watched it with the family. We enjoyed it, but I found the soundtrack a bit underwhelming. The message was well done, but it felt very similar to Coco, which was all around a better film.

Got an overwhelming Meh from my entire family on it. Good music, somewhat interesting aspects, but nothing that pulled us in and told a great story like Coco. Just meh

Now otoh, Sing 2 got rave reviews from everyone. Way better than the first.

Just putting that out there for any parents deciding on movies with the kiddos.

Yeah just saw Sing 2 tonight with the family. That was a good movie and I liked it better than the first one.

Encanto was meh for me. I agree with the poster that said the dialogue was hard to make out at times. I felt like I was having trouble hearing it in various parts and it got really frustrating.

Very few things my teen daughter likes to do with the family but watching animated movies is one so went to see encanto.

She loved it, I could take it or leave it animation and songs were good, the magic house was a bit beauty and the beast-ish. Message was fine, there was no real antagonist.

Same. Took my 4-year old last week to see it and she loved it, I loved it and mom loved it. And she's watching it on Disney Plus right now.

Carlos Vives killed it with this one, very Colombian flavor:

Wife, daughter, and I watched first time last night. Girls always have been big Disney (movie) fans. Everyone gave it a 5 out of 10. A totally re-skinned effort with the motivation to have a hit sound track like Frozen.

My kids loved it. I liked it. There was so much of the story told through song, and they sing so friggin fast in places that it wasn't always easy to follow. I agree with others who say it was predictable and not as good as Coco, but that doesn't make it bad. Still a good disney film.

I've had the dang songs stuck in my head for about a week now.

My youngest son loves the move and asks for it every day or so. We've had to implement a rule that it can't be watched everyday.

Songs are catchy and packed with emotion. Room gets a little dusty on the song where the Abuelas husband dies and when the family tells Maribel they see how bright she shines.

Our Tv shows English closed captioning for the Spanish in the movie. The song is even more dusty when you can follow the lyrics since I don't speak Spanish. Really tugs the heart strings.

Watched it for the first time yesterday with my wife. Disney movies are really good at chopping onions. Specifically this part.

Encanto just shows how being a musical with good music can carry a Disney movie.

Raya was way more in my wheelhouse of the type of story I'm interested in as like a Fantasy nerd, but I have really no interest in ever watching it again. With the musicals they can tell a ****load of story in a couple minutes and skip having to show you a bunch of boring filler just to get the plot points in, and then if the music is actually good (as it has been in the best Disney musicals), then just hearing the songs is also almost like watching those scenes from the movie every time you hear the catchy song. They're way more memorable and iconic because of it. Just from a plot standpoint, Encanto is a very boring character driven story with no action at all. Without music it would have sucked because you wouldn't care about the characters at all, important parts of character arcs and development are in the songs.
