Celebrating it's 50th year on TV. Wow, had no idea it has been running that long.

Also didn't realize Bob Phillips (founder) has been doing the show since he was 20 years old basically. That's impressive!

Anybody other than me watch this syndicated TV show?

Is this the guy who was robbed and beaten in an incident years ago? While traveling to tv shoot spot or such?

Used to watch it all the time. Somehow got TCR hat hanging on the wall at home.

I don't think that's true but I'm laughing thinking of gentle Bob Phillips being beaten and robbed while narrating in his typical TCR voice

I was on it waaaay back when it was I think 8 country reporter. I was a kid at a kite workshop in Grapevine. They were there filming and talking to the lady who owned the shop and filming us kids as we made our kites.

I think it has been both in the past. I do remember when it was 4 country reporter too.

Before it was Texas country Reporter it was 8 Country Reporter and was broadcast on the ABC affiliate in Dallas, WFAA Channel 8. I worked at one of many small airports in the area and WFAA's helo was based at the airport. Sometimes Bob Pillips would be with the pilot when he came to the terminal for a bite to eat. I remember back sometime in the 90's Bob Phillips was mugged and didn't broadcast a new show for about a month due to the beating he recieved at the hands of the assailents. I don't know if they were ever caught but I remember all the channel 8 people that we saw regularly were pretty upset as they should be. Bob, being the Christian man he is forgave those who stole from him and moved on. Quite a man.

I was on it in 1994. I was a kid selling watermelons in Dilley, TX.

I was on it maybe 2013? 42 domino tournament in Hallettsville..

Since I was a kid. On my dvr now; RFDTV 345 on Directv. The flashback parts were cool.

Impressive recall of a 12 year old internet post sharing third hand details of an attack. I didn't find any articles from the time, or references in articles about his career, that mentioned it. Hope it isn't true but sadly does happen to too many.



My FIL was part of a segment because someone stole a camper shell off his truck and replaced with their old crappy shell, which he painted a message on and propped up on a pole along HWY 19 north of Palestine. TCR did a funny investigative story about search for the stolen shell. It should be noted my FIL is crazy.

I watched it a lot in the 80s. I've watched it a few times the past couple of years.

If someone had just moved to Texas, its a great show to watch to learn more about the State a little bit at a time.

That was me - moved here in early 80s and even as a teen I caught onto the show and loved seeing the unique and interesting small town life and quirky events, etc.

Watched it consistently for years when it was 8 Country Reporter in Dallas.

Eyes of Texas with Ray Miller and Ron Stone.

Haven't watched much TCR in years…prefer the original orchestral music intro and it was just him, no wifey. Also, Texas Bucket List seems like the more casual, more food oriented competitor.
