"Salsbury Hill" and "Biko" are both excellent under-the-radar songs by Peter Gabriel...I don't think I've heard "Biko" at all since its brief video rotation back when it was first released.

Sheryl Crow--"Hard To Make A Stand"
Don Henley--"The Garden of Allah"
Jimmy Buffett--"The Ballad of Skip Wiley"
John Hiatt--"Back of My Mind"
Prince--"The Beautiful Ones"
Lynyrd Skynyrd--"The Ballad of Curtis Loew"
SRV--"Willie The Wimp"
Run-DMC--"You Talk Too Much"
J. Geils Band--"Angel In Blue"
Aerosmith--"Last Child"
Eagles--"Seven Bridges Road"
Smithereens--"Blues Before And After"
Def Leppard--"Gods of War"
Van Halen--"Summer Nights", "Black And Blue"
Bruce Springsteen--"One Step Up", "Rosalita"
Nirvana--"Lake Of Fire"

Not Shinola- I love "Solsbury Hill". It is my favorite Peter Gabriel song, but I just didn't think it was underrated.

Bonfired- Great choice on "The Beautiful Ones". I also love "Take Me With U" from that album.

TimAg,

You had some great ones on your list, especially "2000 Man" by Ace (KISS), "5150" by VH and "Keep Yourself Alive" by Queen.

When I first read the post I thought of "Tie Your Mother Down", "Keep Yourself Alive" and "Stone Cold Crazy" by Queen but "Tie Your Mother Down" and "Stone Cold Crazy" may not qualify as underrated.

Some others...

"Hole In My Wall" by Warrant
"Surrender" by Stryper
"Dead Man's Road" by Cinderella

I think that most of Queen's stuff is underrated in this country except for stuff like "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and crap like "Another One Bites The Dust" "We Will Rock You" & "We Are The Champions". The only reason most people know "Stone Cold Crazy" is because of Metallica.
Songs like "Seven Seas Of Rhye" and "Now, I'm Here" are incredible, but not too many people seem to know them. Maybe it's because Freddie was gay. People don't want to respect or idolize a band with a gay front man. I always saw Extreme as a cheap imitation of Queen. Gary Cherone so badly wanted to be Freddie Mercury, but they just couldn't pull it off.

Did you see the Concert for Life telecast in which Extreme played a medley of Queen hits? They did a great job but like you said, Cherone is very influenced by Freddie.

Yeah, I have that on tape. From what I remember it was a pretty good performance. Even when he was singing for Van Halen, Cherone threw a line from "Now, I'm Here" into a VH song (can't remember which one) every night and he used the same type of half-microphone stand that Freddie always used.

Queen has a ton of great stuff. "Who Wants to Live Forever", "One Vision", "Sheer Heart Attack", "Fat Bottom Girls", "I Want it All", & "Tie Your Mother Down" are all great examples of this. They aren't appreciated as much as they should be here in the states, but they're very highly regarded in other parts of the world and probably always will be.

As far as the concert for life, my personal favorite was George Michael covering "Somebody to Love", he nailed that song.

I gotta go with The Ocean - LZ

Although for straight up rock n roll you can't hardly beat The Wanton Song.

I agree with the Abbey Road assesment.

"Golden Slumber" is one of the top 5 Beatles songs in my eyes.

I'm probably gonna get some crap for this, but "Head Full of Ghosts" by Bush is pretty underrated. It doesn't say much, but it's lyrically one of their best songs and didn't really get much attention since it was on a crappy album. Gavin Rosdale is also a tool.
