I've been watching the Simpsons with the kids (I know, great dad) and was telling them about Lisa's birthday episode with Michael Jackson ("Stark Raving Dad").

I couldn't figure out why I couldn't find it. Turns out Disney had removed it b/c Jackson was the special guest.
What Jackson (probably) did was disgusting. But I don't agree with #canceling the episode. Regardless of what he did this was an all time great episode. It seems unfair to the writers and other people involved in the show.

It wasn't so much Disney as it was Al Jean. He cowrote the episode and was part of the decision to pull it. IIRC, it was in large part because he believed Jackson had used the episode to help groom young boys. I don't know if that's true, but I respect his right to make that call.

I'm so tired of people deciding for me what is and what isn't appropriate. They don't show the "Diversity Day" episode of The Office anymore either.

One of the best episodes of Community isn't available - "Advanced D&D" because Chang was in "black face" playing a dark elf.

Workaholics is missing an episode where Chris D'Elia plays a child molester...because, well, he might actually be one.

At this point let's be glad they havent pulled every episode with Apu.

Yes they do. I saw it on Comedy Central a few weeks ago. Its still listed as available on Peacock

He played one in the second season of You as well. Talk about being perfectly type cast.

So, arguably the greatest episode of one of the best shows ever cannot be streamed because there are dumbasses who don't understand the joke that Chang is cosplaying a dark elf.

Seriously, people are dumbasses.

Dr. Hibbert is based on Bill Cosby's character and they didn't remove him from the catalog thank goodness.

someone recommended the office ladies podcast to me as an office fan. i started with the episode on benihana christmas because i had watched it the night before. they had either the writer or director (can't remember which) of that episode on, and she began her appearance by immediately apologizing for the episode and her now regret in making it because of the joke of michael and andy not being able to tell the waitresses apart. turned it off and haven't listened again. everything sucks now.

So, it was just something he (Al Jean) thought, but there was no real proof.

I brought this up on another thread about owning physical media and how they can't pull an episode if you have it on a DVD. Someone mocked me about an executive sitting around realizing DVD sales are driven by people wanting to watch episodes with black face or something stupid.

These types of things aren't going to end, it will only get worse.

i remember that post, and it's happening much quicker than anyone expected.

I didn't even know who D'Elia was at the time, but Bieberhole69 was branded in my mind. Then he turns up later in real life on the comedy central roast of Justice Beaver. Odd duck.

To be honest, I still don't know who he is. But after posting this yesterday, I got a recommendation from the Podcast app to listen to his podcast. I guess he's not completely cancelled? Either way - no thanks...

I just want to be able to stream that episode again.
