One of the best things I've watched in a while, and unfortunately it's probably the best artistic description of society's collective mental state during COVID.
Welcome to the Internet really summed up everything the internet has done to America over the last 20 years. "Could I interest you in everything all of the time?" "Apathy's a tragedy and boredom is a crime" Just brilliant lines.
Finally finished it. It's not that I was bored at any point, but I kept trying to watch it at like 1 am and would start to fall asleep. I was pretty entertained all the way through. It's kind of amazing how much talent he has.
At the end, I felt like I needed to send him a positive note to let him know how much value he has as a person.
I watched it twice when it came out and listened to the audio this morning on a drive. The two Bezos songs are honestly what crack me up the most - especially the timing of when they come in

Yes to this. The scream at the end of part 1 and the way he says "you did it!" and "congratulations!" during part 2 are just so perfect to me.
I've watched it several times now and every time, I notice some new detail or lyric meaning that I missed before. The sheer amount of conscious effort put into every single word and visual of this special continues to blow me away. I can't think of anything as fully intentional as Inside. Nothing is throwaway or accidental.
From interviews I've seen it appears he does suffer from some form of anxiety but I think he leaned into it an awful lot to get his point of the inside special across effectively. He was a theater guy when he was younger.
Woof. Not sure how y'all sat through 90+ minutes of that. I got to about socko
This isn't for everyone, because it isn't very funny.
I havent seen Inside yet, but having seen Make Happy, it's my opinion that, after having watched Bo Burnham since his youtube days, he doesn't really want to be seen as a comedian anymore. He's an undeniably creative person with a wisdom and intelligence beyond his years, who used (past tense) his silly sense of humor to gain fame and attention, but I dont think he wants people to laugh anymore.
If he doesn't want people to laugh anymore, he's terrible at it because that special was hilarious in many parts.
All of the songs from THE INSIDE OUTTAKES and the background music from Inside were released for streaming today. I've heard that The Chicken is one he would perform at Largo from time to time so I'm really excited he released it. There are a few others included that he didn't even have in the outtakes video, like 1985.

Interesting watch for fans of Bo and kind of what I thought after watching Make Happy.
Bo has since said that he stopped performing live due to generalized anxiety and that he has had panic attacks while live, on stage and no longer performs live anymore (hence - Inside -- masked during the pandemic).
If there's any argument about the negative influence of kids growing up on the internet in the age of social media, it has to start here.
Look at what those little thumb up buttons actually do to children's reward systems.
@9:53in the video: "The subtle way that internet interfaces with our hearts, the way it makes us feel kind of nervous in our bed at the end of the day -- how you have to choose between all the information in the world or the back of our eyelids, that's kind of sad". All of this said while the interviewer is swiping up and down on her phone instead of returning the eye contact that Bo is trying to get from her... and her response is "Okay, well...."
Bo said it best here, from Inside "you know maybe allowing giant digital media corporations to exploit the neurochemical drama of our children for profit...maybe that was, um....a bad call"
