Yes he does. He's about 6'6" and 250 in the books. Not a midget like Cruise, which is why the book devotees cringed at Cruise being cast.
Ryan was mid-30s in the books, most of which were set in the '80s. I believe Ford was mid-30s when he made Star Wars in the mid-70s. He was too old to be the Jack Ryan of the novels. After the train wreck on the new trilogy, I have a weird soft spot for Hayden. But he was one of the most miscast of all time. Not intimidating at all. Never likable so you don't care about his fall.
Wonder who would have made a good Anakin looking back. Ledger and Leo were both interested in the role. I think Jake Gyllenhaal would have been great but he has really developed as an actor in the past 20 years.
