I've always felt movies fall short of the book and a tv series is the best way to adapt a book. Hollywood has gotten it right lately.

But what's the book and movie adaptation where you can re-read the book and re-watch the movie?

For me, it's The Martian.

I learned of the movie on Texags, then immediately downloaded the book after reading the synopsis. I couldn't put it down and read it in an afternoon. I've probably read it 5-6 times.

I watch the movie whenever it is on, and love it each and every time. The casting is amazing, the pace, the soundtrack, everything about it is great.

Still the best book to movie adaptation ever. And the only one I can think of off the top of my head that is actually good.

Not a movie.. but Games of Throne, the book, and Season 1 (which covers the book) and only season 1 .. the first season was very close to the book and my issues with the series occur with the later seasons that deviated from the book.

oh since I am breaking the rules.. Band of Brother, book by Stephen Ambrose, and the series.. again breaking the rules.

I personally think it is very hard to make a good book into a movie because something has to be left out.. look at the Harry Potter series and all the changes they had to sacrifice to keep the intended story but keep it to 2 hrs.

This is why I keep waiting for HBOMAX to announce Harry Potter show/mini series.

What I've never understood is people still line up for 3 hour movies so why do they always cut so much. Particularly with a title like HP which is going to make plenty.

A walk to remember. It was given to me as a grad present by my coach and i read it all in one night and sobbed my eyes out. I also love mandy moore and thouhht the movie was really well represented.

Excellent choice on HFRO.

I think they totally screwed the pooch by not making Dune a series.

I absolutely love both Jaws the novel and Jaws the movie, although they are have very little in common other than three men on a boat hunting a great white shark.
