Binged the first 5 episodes (part 1), gotta say its pretty good. Love the intermingling of Arsne Lupin from the books into the protagonist. Good characters, good drama, good story so far. Little fast paced but hopefully will slow a little in part 2 and go deeper into the Lupin thought processes and how he plans on out maneuvering his foes.

Its French with English subs for those who care. No issues following along with the subs.

Reminds me of The Saint, but the main character is a tall black dude. Hard to change appearances but they do a good job and he's a good actor.

Will have to check it out. When I first read the thread title I was thinking it was a Harry Potter spin off.

I saw the first episode and wasn't hooked.

The English voiceovers were pretty bland. (I almost wanted to switch to French audio with English subtitles.) Despite that, the storyline itself, at least so far, is pretty unoriginal and unbelievable. All he had to do to pull off the crime was create a fake profile, create a fake necklace, and get some goons to fake rob him?

Maybe I'm in the minority, but it reminded me of a weaker Oceans Eleven.

Watching dubs was the first mistake. As for what he did for the event, you really need to watch it again. There was much more than that. multiple personas, multiple jobs, multiple thefts/cons, an online persona with financials to back it, creation of the fake necklace so good it took forensics to tell them apart, the entire planning about how to get in and out, how to get the gem out aftwards, planning for a double cross in the first place. You dont understand Arsne Lupin in general if you didnt catch those.

I understood those details, just the whole plot of the first episode seemed unoriginal to me. Maybe it's better in French...

Lupin needs to go 007 (R rated) on some of bad guys rather than giving them 3, 4 chances to do harm. But I get it....he is a gentleman.

Yes. The Lupin the 3rd anime series follows Arsne Lupin III, the grandson of Arsne Lupin (All 5 seasons are on Crunchyroll). The Castle of Cagliostro movie has Lupin the 3rd as the main character. This netflix series follows a guy that does the same stuff in the same manor as the Arsne Lupin from the original books.

Always do subtitles. Much is lost in dubbing.

I watched this series and glad to see it mentioned. I got pulled in from the start and it was really a fun watch.

I searched for a discussion of this show (which I'm rather enjoying), and don't have much to add other than the observation that RichardSplet is a serial triple poster.

What's up with that? Is this intentional post padding or accidental?

I just finished whatever is available on Netflix. French gotta be difficult and can't name stuff like the rest of us, then scoff at our stupidity.

Show was entertaining. Not sure I will join in for any additional installments, but maybe. Main character is a big dude, hard to disguise that. I also can't tell if he is a badass or not. Sometimes he is Jason Bourne and others he is a big puss. 6/10.

Season 2 sucked. I thoroughly enjoyed season 1. I could not make it through episode 2 in season 2.
