Does Die Hard count as a WWII movie? Fighting Germans and saving his wife from the soulless Japanese company?

To be fair, Takagi did state that "Pearl Harbor didn't work out, so we got you with (tape recorders??) ..."Zombie Jon Snow said:AustinAg2K said:

JK... NO!!!!!
Hogan's Heroes was actually filmed, so you can find HD versions of the series.G Martin 87 said:Yes, that's The Great Escape. WWII prison movies are a genre unto themselves. Hogan's Heroes was inspired by Stalag 17, IIRC.rednecked said:
I remember really enjoying Escape From Stalag 17 as a kid. was it the idea for Hogan's Heroes?
I also seem to remember a serious POW camp escape movie where they dig a long tunnel, it was a very tense movie as I recall. Was that The Great Escape? or a is there a different one?
Not sure how I missed this, now I'm thinking of adding a Sci-Fi/Comic Book/Horror BracketThe Dirty Sock said:

Overlord might be the top seed for that one. But then again, Captain America was pretty great, too.jkag89 said:Not sure how I missed this, now I'm thinking of adding a Sci-Fi/Comic Book/Horror BracketThe Dirty Sock said:

Hellboy (2004) or Boys from Brazil. If I make it Sci-Fi/Comic Book/Fantasy/Alternative Time Line which I'm mulling over, Inglorious Basterds or maybe Bedknobs and Broomsticks. In other words, I could have all kinds of fun with this particular bracket.G Martin 87 said:Overlord might be the top seed for that one. Nothing wrong with that. The three you mention are fantastic.JB!98 said:
Lots of my favorites listed already but I think these were missed:
The Big Red One - I always stop down to watch this one - Lee Marvin is awesome
Sands of Iwo Jima - Classic
In Harms Way
The Flying Leathernecks
Yeah, a bunch of John Wayne movies, but they are great!
Thanks for the recommendation, never would have found this without the heads up. Definitely worth a watch.Teacher_Ag said:

What about Pearl Harbor... the one with the love triangle
I did a search on IMDB - Best espionage films WWII, and came up with a list of 48 movies, most of which I have not seen, but I'll throw out some of the titles that I recognize.jkag89 said:
Looking for suggestions for WWII espionage/spy films? Thinking of this as a catagory for a WWII Movie Bracket. There is Eye of the Needle, The Eagle Has Landed, maybe Where Eagles Dare but think of this more a a commando movie like The Guns of Navarino. Hitchcock has several good films that fit the catagory but looking for more strong films.
I think of it as a POW movie also. I guess the American Volksdeutsche planted in the camp can classify it as spy film of a sort. You would think their would be a larger number of solid WWII espionage films.Quote:
Stalag 17 (pretty sure I've seen this but thought it was a POW camp movie)

Night Train To Munich
Cloak and Dagger
Shining Through (not a good movie)
Stalag 17 (pretty sure I've seen this but thought it was a POW camp movie)
Enigma
Others I can think of:
Allied
I Was an American Spy
Foreign Correspondent
Cloak and Dagger (1946) as opposed to Cloak & Dagger (1984) ...Ronnie said:Cinco Ranch Aggie said:I did a search on IMDB - Best espionage films WWII, and came up with a list of 48 movies, most of which I have not seen, but I'll throw out some of the titles that I recognize.jkag89 said:

Cloak and dagger - espionage set at the San Antonio river walk with video games. I'll allow it.
