I watched The Commitments recently for maybe the 20th time since 1991. I've realized that this movie is the foundation of everything I know about Soul music. Their version of "Mustang Sally" has always been my reference for that song. When the Black Crows covered "Hard to Handle", I thought they were covering "The Commitments". The movie has held up well, the music is still great, and the story of the band will be relevant as long as bands exist.

If you haven't seen it, be patient and learn the accents. Also the lead singer, Deco, was only 17 when he filmed the movie.

Deco has become quite the Irish actor over time.

Great movie. Not so sure I have seen it 30 times, but at least 20.

Awesome movie. The redhead guitarist from Committments also stars in Once. Drawing a blank on his name. Once is incredible movie with even better music.

Maria Doyle (Natalie) has released about 10 albums. Beautiful voice.

Very accomplished TV and movie actress, too.
