Has anybody watched this series that's now on Hulu?
After reading a few books lately related to the age of piracy, I decided to give this series a try. Have to say it's pretty darn good. It's essentially a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island". It's set about 2 decades prior to the events in the book. I don't claim to be an expert on the historical accuracy of pirate life, but Black Sails seems to do a good job of capturing and depicting what is was all really like. It's got plenty of scenes that are set on sailing vessels which are very well done and give a good account of life at sea. Lots of fighting, pillaging, deceit, betrayal, mutiny, and pain.
Also, quite a bit of sex, so I wouldn't recommend it to the little ones as a substitute for the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow.
It first came out in 2014 and I don't remember any hype around the series at the time. Definitely worth the time.
Rule 1 compliance...........
