I'm a little over halfway through, but need to call it a night and finish tomorrow. I actually decided not to re-watch Citizen Kane first. I wanted to be able to judge Mank on its own merits, and so far I'm into it. But I totally get not being on fire for it - I'm not either - as it's super niche, to the point where I'm kind of shocked it even got made. But man, it looks INCREDIBLE, the made-in-the-'30s gimmick works better than I thought it would, there are some really great sequences so far, and I love the structure. That said, the stakes have only *just* begun, over halfway through, as it's been more of a commentary than anything up to this point. Granted, it's commentary that feels relevant and actually does make me want to do some research when I'm done, go back, and watch the whole thing again. Will see how I feel when I've finished this initial viewing, though.
