I'm a wuss (I admit) and HATE scary movies, but I really enjoyed Haunting of Hill House. It still gave me the creeps, but I made it! I look forward to this.
Haunting of Hill House had the single best jump scare in the history of horror. IMHO.
Which scare are you referring to? It's been a while since I've seen it (and with 2020 the way it is, it feels like 20 years ago).
Hill House spoiler: When they're in the car and Nell yells at them to stop fighting.

It can actually make for an intriguing series. American Horror Story did it... American Crime did it better a long while back -- same characters, 3 different storylines -- and it was very enjoyable.
It's something you do if you have a whole lot of confidence that the actors you got have the chops to make different characters believable.

Binging....fun to watch.
Binged the first three episodes last night, and it's pretty damn good. It had a nice jumpy moment at the end of episode 3.
On episode 7. Wife and I have been bored to tears and we both loved Hill House.
The first series was much better and significantly scarier. I probably wouldn't recommend the new one.
Hill House was way better and scarier but this is still a fantastic show. We have 2 episodes left. Definitely worth a watch.

I thought Hill House was much more entertaining and scary, Bly Manor was more of a drama than a true horror. I thought it was very well done, although dragged quite a bit. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I went in thinking of it more as a drama than a horror show.

Okay, done. Good series overall, but
the resolution with the boyfriend was so weak. If all it took was burning his glasses, why didn't she do it before? Or just get rid of them? I felt like that resolution of the storyline sucked, especially considering all of the other ghosts spoke for the most part. But he just stood there and never did squat
Also felt the climax was kinda cheap and annoying. The kids were manipulated into accepting the "body swap" crap with dead Au Pair and sketchy valet, yet just one incantation forced the dead lake woman who had no memory of anything to accept it? On terms shed later force her to take her place? It just felt cheap.
So too was the very ending at Floras wedding. Everyone's there and even Owen seemed to not remember anything? Or the uncle?

4 episodes in; I'm a bit bored. Pretty much watching for the au pair (either one actually).
I agree that it was a decently done, somewhat interesting drama. However, expectations were set, based on Hill House, and they were far from being met.

Dragging is a good way to describe it. I also thought there were a few plot holes that felt lazily written.
The lesbian relationship added nothing to the story other than trying to be "edgy", I suppose. Detracted from the rest of it. The whole story would have benefitted from being condensed to 5 episodes.

The story is that an overwhelming majority of our population is heinously stupid. 50% of them vote for communists. 75% of the remaining 50% vote for Trump, who cant win. I watched the first episode last night and struggled to stay awake. I'll give episode 2 a shot, but if it doesn't pick up, I may be done.
