Great list you have awesome taste and we have many the same.

I did not like leaving Alien out, almost created a sci-fi horror sub category for it.

My top overall (Godfather) allowed me two mob movies (with Goodfellas) in my favorite genre.

You got 2 sci-fi the same way with SW:ESB overall and Alien in sci-fi.

Oh god your list made me realize I had to have Hunt for Red October but I don't consider it pure thriller/suspense and used the term I found under Wiki of techno thriller. And Connery made me realize I had no Bond films so I added Spy category as well.

Yea, I had to "pigeon hole" a few movies on my list because the category/genre match up wasn't clean, or its more natural category was already taken up by another movie. HFRO is probably a top 10 all time movie for me--couldn't leave it out.

some off the top of my head -

overall 3-way tie: Godfather, Godfather2 & Casablanca
rom-com: It Happened One Night (hitchhiker scene, wedding scene has been copied numerous times, The Walls of Jericho ending!)
Documentary: Hoop Dreams (amazing they captured years of 2 young men, and the adults who selfishly use them)
World War 2: Best Years of Our Lives (starring actual soldier and real life after war issues)
Recent Classic: Parasite (the class distinction and manipulation was incredibly portrayed)
Ending, 2-way tie: Casablanca (start of a beautiful friendship), City Lights (Chaplin's brave smile while his flower wilts)
