I watched The Sound of Music with the kids last night and realized it was released in 1965 and that Mary Poppins was released just the year prior in 1964.

Has there ever been two year run like Julie Andrews had with those two different roles?

Tom Hanks won two Oscars for Philadelphia and Forrest Gump in '93 and '94. That's a pretty good run. Heck, the '90s was an amazing run for him.

Hepburn and Tracy both won oscars in consecutive years.
But I think Walt Disney won 10 in 8 years or something insane.
That's not a bad run.

Jim Carrey in 94 was in Dumb & Dumber, Ace Ventura, and The Mask. 95 was less impressive, but still played a Batman villain and had Ace Ventura sequel (which made twice as much as the first one)

Not acting, but directing, Francis Ford Coppola with The Godfather (1972), The Conversation (1974), and The Godfather Part 2 (1974). Three Best Picture nominations, two wins, only because Conversation was up against Part 2.

Keeping with that trend, Al Pacino:

72 - Godfather
73 - Serpico
74 - Godfather Part 2

Also Harrison Ford:

80 - Empire Strikes Back
81 - Raiders of the Lost Ark
82 - Blade Runner

The answer is Tom Hanks. The amount of movies, the all time classics, plus the hardware. No one comes close to Hanks
