Over the past few days the traces of a movie scene/scenes have recurred to me, but I can't place them. It goes something like the protagonist receives a letter from their hoped-for romantic interest, read aloud by the author. While the main character's expression goes from excitement to disappointment, and while the letter is disregarded, the author's voice fades out.

It seems like there may be more than one instance of this, but I can't recall where I've seen it before. Anyone have any ideas?

Think it was Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Every TV show and movie over the last century that has featured a letter has had the letter read in voice-over.

Monty Python's Flying Circus did this every other episode.
