Sad to read the news this morning that Lee Fierro, best known for the role of Mrs. Kitner in Jaws, passed this weekend. I've probably watched Jaws more than any other movie, as I was hooked from the age of 6. She always stood out to me as one of the reasons the film works so well. I recall being confused how someone could be mad at Chief Brody, since I knew he was the good guy. Took me until I was older to understand the layers of complex realities and emotions going on during that portion of the film. Taught me that even the good guy might appear to be the villain to some, and that a good person can still make mistakes while trying to do the right thing.

A toast to Ms. Fierro. "Show me the way to go home. I'm tired and I wanna go to bed."

I always thought she seemed pretty old to be that little Kinter boy's mom. She looked more like his grandmother. Neither here nor there.

I've always been a fan of that scene. That along with her desperately looking for her boy when everyone is running in out of the water. One of those scenes that you don't really feel much about until you have kids, and then it really has an emotional impact.

Man I love that movie. It's really almost perfect.

So many similarities with what's going on now to that movie.

I know man. Just this morning I saw a guy wearing a baby blue sport boat with a white anchor pattern, and I was like whoa...strange times we're living in.

Totally agree. I used to think she looked more like his grandmother. She died at 91. Believe that scene would have been shot in '74, so she was likely 45 then. Alex Kintner was probably around 9 or 10, so it's believable.

The man with her, assumed to be her husband, looks to be at least in his 60's. That adds to the confusion.

Do, or do not. There is no try.

Fantastic movie. May put this in the rotation this weekend.

And it really does parallel current events.

That Amity salt air can really wreak havoc on the skin. Harry was only 39.
