Below is an extremely well-written review from an author who really likes the show, but has a small quibble with Rob & co - characters in their late-20s/early 30s - having a taste for older rock over modern hip-hop/rap. I do admit that, going into this iteration of the story, I was expecting way more of a modern, hip-hop/rap bent, but was pleasantly surprised by the musical choices, as I'm definitely more of a fan of rock/soul over hip-hop in general. That, and hip-hop played on physical records are two things I don't really associate as going to together (or even existing prominently). One one hand, I totally get where the writer's coming from, but on the other hand, Rob absolutely comes across as someone who's genuinely into the music she's into. I just can't tell if, in this day and age, it's believable or not, and if the fact that the actress playing Rob being the daughter of a rock god (as opposed to hip hop), who also happens to be a person of color, is subconsciously swaying my opinion as well...
