Didn't Margot Robbie end up playing Sharon Tate? I can't say that Margot Robbie is uglier. It's close, but to me it's either equal or Margot with the slight edge.

I was semi joking when I posted that, but actors who played other actors are your best bet,
Ashley Judd played a young Marilyn Monroe for instance. Think Mira Sorvino did too.
For that matter, pretty much anyone who played MM (and there have been a bunch) might fall into that category.

Oh yeah.. you made me think oh one. Whoever played Catherine Hepburn in The Aviator. Not sure what they were thinking of that one.

Perhaps I should disqualify actors playing actors. My intent was, "have there been cases where average Joes/Janes have been more attractive then their Hollywood counterpart?"

He played Knucky Thompson who was based on Knucky Johnson. The real Knucky was a bigger guy more like Tony Soprano if I remember correctly.

Boardwalk Empire was a great show.
