I watched them as they came out weekly on BBC. I enjoy this show and can't wait for the next session already. Looking forward to see what everyone else thinks too.

I made my wife start S1 earlier today. So far she likes it. Only took her several years, much like GoT, to get into it. It's like she doesn't trust my taste in shoes

I would hope she wouldn't trust your taste in shoes. You aren't eating shoes, are you?

something about seasons 1 - 4 that led you to believe the episode count would be different???

Tommy prefers Irish so I'm watching the finale with 3 fingers of Redbreast Lustau.

I was unsatisfied as well. I'm used to not hearing the plan then seeing one unfold. When you hear Tommy blab the plan to everyone the viewer knows it will fail. That removed suspense for me. Pair that with a lack of a conclusion and I thought it was a weaker season.

It feels like it might be Michael that is working behind the scenes to thwart his plan. No telling though.

Spoiler alert*******************************

Saw an article that said Gina Gray (Michael's new wife) might be pulling the strings. Some people think she may have entered Michael's life as Italian mob family (seeking retribution) and her new last name could be concealing her identity. Some also believe she was the woman Mosley was having sex with before his speech.

Edit: Here's the excerpt

Quote:

Gina Gray
Why it might be her: Few characters this season have inspired as many theories as Gina. That's largely due to how little is known about her background and how pointedly antagonistic she is to hubby Michael Gray's family from virtually the second she meets Tommy, Polly and crew. Not helping matters: Michael, who had been handling the Shelby investments and business affairs in America, married her on the voyage back to Birmingham, allowing Gina (and writer Steven Knight) to cloak her maiden name conveniently. Could it be... Changretta? It wouldn't exactly be surprising if a big reveal about Gina's background were on the agenda for Season 6; maybe she's a long-con-playing, vengeance-seeking daughter of Adrien Brody's tiltingly behatted Luca Changretta or another associate in the Spinietta crime family. Or she could be working with Mosley, given how attentive she always seems to be during Shelby family meetings, and how, at Tommy and Lizzie's party, she already knows that Mosley is a baronet when Michael points him out -- and how she later exchanges a knowing look with Mosley during the weird ballet performance. (Many fans have theorized that she is also the mostly unseen woman Mosley has sex with in his dressing room before his speech, but that makes zero sense logistically or logically.) One final point in favor of Gina being involved with thwarting Tommy's assassination plot: her final speaking line of Season 5, right after Tommy rejects their proposal and tells Michael and Gina to leave, is "Guess we're going to be forced to take the second option."
Why it might not be her: It's too obvious. Other details we know about her, including stray tidbits about where she comes from (e.g., she has family who is very experienced in distributing drugs and is based in New York) and how hard she pushed Michael to blow up his relationship with Tommy, makes me certain that something is up with her. But whether it adds up to thwarting the Mosley assassination is another thing, as she wouldn't have known where the sniper was, either, since that conversation took place after she'd left the chaotic family meeting where Michael and Gina made their proposal to restructure the Shelby organization.
Verdict: It's probably her.

It's Churchill. Got to be, no shame in Tommy's plan being undone by him.

Also makes the one scene with him more impactful. Also showed us Winston watching what they were up to.

It sounds to me like you are left in complete suspense.

Loved this season. Top 5 show all time.

No doubt.

Now you wonder who's side Polly will take after Gold was killed.

Story was good, acting was good, music was awful/annoying compared to other seasons.

Meet the new character Gina

It was the reverse of what you're used to. Normally we dont know the plan, but see it conclude. This season we knew the plan, but nothing worked out the way it was supposed to.

They ended the final episode with a ton of suspense. There are seemingly a dozen story lines unanswered. Hoping for season 6 to come soon. I feel like they stopped the season 2/3 the way through.

Who is pulling the strings?
What about Oswald?
Churchill's involvement?
What is going to happen with Michael, and the growing family divide?
Etc Etc Etc

I'm hoping given the way they stopped it, that it means they continued filming the next season/series and they'll release it next year sometime.

Thomas v Michael?

Few other observations:

-Oswald knew about the plan, because Finn accidentally blabbed it to his partner, and he called it in. Wonder who's gotten to him?
-Oswald is scary as crap.
-I dont understand why Shelby Company Ltd. has to be restructured, for them to be in the opium trade. Why can't they form a different company, and let Michael run that in the US? Seems like a bit of a manufactured family power struggle.
-I was really hoping Oswald would be taken care of by the end of the season, and the next season would be about the family and Tommy in govt.
-Hate that Aberama Gold is dead. Hate it. I wanted him to get revenge.
-Love that Alfie Solomons made an appearance. Every scene he's in is good dialogue. I hope he's a bigger player in season 6
-I get that Tommy is struggling with his internal demons. But drop the will he/wont he thing with taking his own life. We get the point that this is eating him up. No need to keep going back to this well.
