Based on this thread I watched Colin's special as well and enjoyed it. He does a good job making fun of both sides of the political spectrum.

Honestly I think both extremes are too sensitive and not willing to laugh at themselves these days. Part of the echo chamber nature of social media.PatAg said:
It's very funny to me that it used to be the "conservative" audience that was considered bad for comedy, and now the "liberal" crowd is actually worse.

This is why I said on the Joker thread that I ignore reviews from political outlets. Even the National Review guy (whoever he is) is *****ing about a setback to the vital truth! None of those idiots understand stand up comedy, they just attempt to use pop culture figures to advance their own agendas.
I think that's just conspiracy theory. This was a comedy special on Netflix. I'm guessing not many people review those. I looked up his last special, and it only had 9 reviews. His special before that had 12.The Debt said:Social Media Influencer said:

According to Joe Rogan on Dave's new special: RT handpicked those 5 critics and allowed only them to their rating.
Once RT got roasted, their hand was forced to open it up to more critics.
Disagree. I heard Rogan explain what happened and I believe him. He's in tune with what happens in the comedy world, netflix, reviews and so forth. He's friends with Dave. What he said about RT is probably accurate IMO.AustinAg2K said:I think that's just conspiracy theory. This was a comedy special on Netflix. I'm guessing not many people review those. This wasn't just another comedy special on Netflix. This is Dave Chappelle we are talking about. The biggest force in comedy out there, by far.
This special and the controversy surrounding it made Dave and Netflix a **** ton of money thats for sure. The 'controversy' surrounding it has only increased its popularity.

I rolled at "Because they can both agree the B's are f***ing gross. They're all like 'I'll **** anyone in this car!'"Urban Ag said:
Wife and I watched it last night after a really long day of work, traffic and kids sports. Couple glasses of wine and something funny was in order.
Loved it. As some noted above, don't agree with all his perspectives but in general most of it hit home. I love the anti-PC movement. PC has been sapping the fun of out of life for decades now.
I admit I got a little squeamish on the Michael Jackson/pedo jokes but it feels almost stupid to have point out that this is comedy, not Dave actually making a case for molesting Home Alone kid. God, that is what is so lost on society now. Any sense of nuance, sarcasm, tongue in cheek.
So best part for the wife and I. We genuinely laughed so hard at the LGBT in a car part. When Dave says the G's are going to drive because the G's will have a lot of white guys and "we know these roads, hell we built these roads" my wife and I simultaneously said:
Her (she's a brown): You say that!
Me: lololol I say that!
That was an hour of my life I'm happy to not get back.
So today's SJW's were evangelical kids 20 years ago...hmmm....i'm gonna have to laugh in your face as that is so ridiculous as to reveal that you're just making it up.Social Media Influencer said:Quote:

I have one, but it's kind of long-winded and mostly #WrongForum!
Short(ish) version, based on my own meandering misadventures in Liberal Arts World, is that when the Evangelical kids of the 90's and 2000's decided to rebel against Mommy and Daddy by going far Left, the only thing they took with them was the "You Can't Say That No-No Word" mindset. Then they started making up their own rules so they could be in charge now. It's a *******ized cross-breeding of gamer nerd culture and evangelical public piety. But it loves rules, and making up new rules.
*Slightly on-topic, but I love this George Carlin bit about how word choice affects perceptions:

I see it as the liberal and conservative sides have collapsed back in on themselves creating some strange new dynamic thats still settling out.aTmAg said:Yeah, they really are.BQCadet said:No. They really aren'tPatAg said:

Yep, this was my favorite part, too, and I think it probably sailed over a lot of people's heads.Spaceball 1 said:
Loved his take on abortion. He reels em all in and then drops his truth bomb. If y'all can kill em, we can abandon em. My money my choice. And if you don't agree then you're wrong on all of it. Just Genius. My wife and I talked about it for 15 minutes afterwards

One side is trying to squash free speech. One side wants the government to leave them alone.
It's really not close.
