Was really good, clips are out on NBC.com if you missed it, but he appeared to genuinely have fun doing it. Gumby, Mr Robinson, Velvet Jones all made appearances.

Very underwhelming. I completely believe his comment about needing to support 10 kids was the reason for getting back into acting during the monologue.

And Lizzo the hutt was terrible.

Seemed like the rest of the cast stepped up their game this week.

Typically sketches haven't been that polished lately.

Monologue was probably the best part of the show IMO.

I was in college in the 70's and watched it from '75 to the mid eighties. Saturday night with Murphy was great! I believe the Weekend Update with Gumby was largely a Murphy ad lib. Now if only they could get Ackroyd and Curtain to reprise "Jane, you ignorant ****" and Chase etc. to come back as hosts ....

I enjoyed it a lot. It was clear Eddie was having a blast. Now that they've gotten all his old characters out of the way, I'd like to see him host again and do new stuff. I liked the throw back bits, but my favorites to were the two new skits. I don't know why, but I found that demon cake hilarious last night.

Gumby was definitely improv. I'm curious if there younger generation got it, since they probably haven't seen the original sketches.
