I've questioned almost every celebrity's untimely death since I saw an Enquirer or Star magazine that claimed Hitler and Elvis were still alive.

I always thought, these people have enough money to fake a death and then move to a private island and live out their days in peace.

I always thought Michael Jackson did this. I still do to this day.

Am I alone in this thought process?

Yes. 100%.

a. they have enough money (many of them) to do that without faking their death

b. NONE of the big name celebrities you probably suspect of that are seeking to hide from fame - they revel in it.


Any of them could chuck away the fame if they wanted and live in some remote location - nobody would trek there to find them if they weren't actively working and promoting stuff.

There are actually many celebs who have moved away from the Hollywood and NY scenes and live in small towns and are rarely bothered. Many others have places in Hawaii or other exotic destinations and live in seclusion there mostly.

Harrison Ford has a ranch and land near Jackson Hole Wyoming where he spends most of his time.
Oprah, Emma Stone, Neil Young, Terry Bradshaw and many others have Hawaii resorts they escape to.
Bill Murray lives in Charleston SC owns a minor league team there and a restaurant.
Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen live in Little Rock AR

I don't see any reason any of them need to fake their death- they can live like that anyway if they choose.

Are there any famous examples of faked deaths? I know there have been drug lords or mafia types who had plastic surgery to try and disguise themselves and start a new identity. I know there were some (lots?) of nazis who escaped to south america and started new lives.

Not really a celebrity but if anyone did this it's Ken Lay. If I was committing fraud at that level I sure as hell would have a get out of Dodge plan lined up and ready to go.

Yep,Marlon Brando spent most of the last 30 years of his life in Tahiti getting fatter. He mostly stayed away from the celebrity headlines until his son killed his sister's boyfriend.

I know the guy who was the funeral director for Michael Jacksons funeral. Based on his telling of the story of planning that, I'm 100% sure he gone.

I do however like looking at what people use as evidence of the fake death claims, or even the celebrity replacement theories. I.e. Avril Lavigne.

Yes, and the reason you can tell this is true because all Paul's big hits as a solo artist pretty much ended with John's death in '80. You know, because John was writing all "Pauls'" solo material. Oh, you say Paul had hits' in the 80's? Well, Micheal Jackson wrote Say Say Say and Stevie Wonder (sad to say) wrote Ebony and Ivory. So there!

Loads of celebs already pretty much live private lives. They aren't all living like Kardashian or whoever else is on ET for the day.


Look at your rock guys.. Eddie Vedder probably lives in rural WA. Jerry Cantrell lives in OK on a ranch. James Hetfield left the bay area a few years ago and moved to the mountains in Vail. I think Maynard from Tool lives in AZ for his winemaking.

Countless others. None of these people are in tabloids daily; only those who actually crave that attention are. Paparazzi doesn't travel to rural areas of most states to try and snag these pics. They hang around hollywood blvd and outside of clubs in LA/NYC/Vegas.

If faked, I'd say Freddy Mercury or Rock Hudson. Would you spread a rumor you died of AIDS to get people to quit looking for you?

Ummm.... no. Who would.

that's the strangest take yet on here.

You think Freddie Mercury -who was actually living in near isolation anyway for the last 2-3 years of his life..... went on a crash diet losing about half his body weight and looking terrible just to fake his death from AIDS????

when he already was living in near solitude and wasn't being bothered really. there are almost no photos of him because he wa not out in public the last 3 years at all. No tours, no promotions. they released a few singles and videos over that time but that was it.

The last video he shot where some pics are from (below) were 6 months before he died.
