I can't do the free trial for Youtube Premium again (used to be Youtube Red which was a dumb name) ...

but there is a free trial for Youtube TV (their streaming cord cutter service) for 7 days and it includes Youtube Originals content like Cobra Kai.

Definitely not as enjoyable as season one, and there was one character (Stingray) that was a complete waste, but overall I enjoyed it.

That last episode...wow, a lot happened

Didn't think it was as good as season one, bit holy cow last episode really set the table for a lot of amazing TV moving forward.

1 episode in 2nd season and still feeling good about the show. I'm not expecting anything ground breaking with this. In fact, I'm in the camp of 'more nostalgia and keep a good thing going.' Keep entertaining me and I'll keep coming back.

Sidetracking, I've always been on the lookout for someone's rec's on all of these other Youtube Originals. Decided to randomly pick a show and went with 'Wayne' and really liking what I see. Comedy, action series - here is link. Welcome input from others on the various Youtube Original series.

I honestly think S2 is terrific.

Johnny is still perfectly imperfect.

The Coors Banquet product placement is on point.

I think they did a great job building to the final showdown between Sam and Tory, without having it be some bullchit feminist message of equality. It was a rage-fight over a boy. Now we're left with the question of what will happen to Miyagi-Do karate. Will Johnny disappear? Where is Robby? Will Kreese's Cobra Kai group battle Miyago-Do, or will there be another group formed by Johnny? Does Johnny take over Miyagi-Do since Amanda forbids Daniel doing karate? How about the foreshadowing in Daniel's skepticism about Kreese's disappearance?

I like how they've set up S3.

Yeah that new guy was annoying. He was good for a laugh in the first episode, then was just annoying. Hawk is a sociopath but Dmitri is also a whiny ahole. By the end, I was okay with Dmitri getting his azz kicked.

I didn't like the cliffhanger ending with absolutely nothing resolved. Regardless, it was a solid second season. B+

Agreed season 1 is better than season 2. However, Season 2 was strong. I liked the story telling and how Kreese is still Kreese. There are a ton of subtle nods towards original movie. I watched them all in one day. Story pulls you in. Definitely looking forward to season 3.

Consider the roller rink '80s party. Tory is dressed as Madonna, which fits her punk rebel "we have to fight for everything we get" attitude. Miguel is Michael Jackson.

[sp]Hilariously, Robby comes in as 'Spader'.Who is Spader? James Spader, the actor who played Stef in Pretty in Pink.[/sp]

Now Sam asks Robby why he couldn't come as Duckie. But Duckie doesn't get the girl at the end, Blane does, and that would be too obvious foreshadowing.
But Stef doesn't get the girl, either. Blane confronts Stef, telling him "You couldn't buy her, though, that's what's killing you, isn't it? Stef? That's it, Stef. She thinks you're ***** And deep down, you know she's right. " So we have foreshadowing that Robby will not get Sam. Of course, there is also the scene where we see Tommy, who is infamous for his "Get him a body bag!!" quote in the original movie, being zipped up in a body bag after the cancer takes him.

Not quite as good as season 1, but I still really enjoyed it. I loved the long shot of the fight in episode 10.

S2 was good. It couldn't have matched S1 and it didn't but it was good enough.

Yes, the throwbacks to the movie are great and I'm glad they keep doing it, even if they hit us over the head with them sometimes.
The reunion of the original Cobra Kai guys was incredible. Too bad they couldn't get Dutch back in the fold but I love that they explained away his absence due to being incarcerated.
I'm really interested to see if they can bring Elisabeth Shue back in the fold in S3 but I'm starting to think that her friend request to Johnny just as he ditched his phone was more than just symbolic on the show

I wish they could make the seasons longer. It's way too easy to blow through these 10 episode seasons in a weekend. I hope we do t have to wait another year for S3.

I know the show is already very self referential, but I would love the series to end with LaRusso saying "you're all right Lawrence"

How could it not be renewed for another season? One of my favorite shows in recent memory.

I wanted more from Miguel this season - he seems to have really mellowed. Be a villain!

Just binged S2 in a 5 day free trial.

Really enjoyed it again. Some different directions and dynamics in S2. A little hokey in parts but overall it was enjoyable. It just has some much nostalgia and 80s references it's great. I loved bringing back Johnny's old gang for some appearances here which continues to add depth to Johnny. Ths kids all in all were good. Definitely seem like modern teens and then the old school influences by the sensei's in 2 very different styles and how that plays off these kids. Gonna be an interesting direction after this season.

And the great news is Youtube is now making all Originals free going forward starting in the fall. No more subscription. But with this show there is some weird caveat.

S1 will only be free from Aug 29 to Sep 11 and then S2 from Sep 11 on. Not sure what happens when S3 releases. Why not just make all seasons free. Weird.

Yeah none of the articles I saw said why - I mean they did say there would be ads with them but not to the degree of OTA.

I think they are probably finding the subscription market kind of full.

Like I have Netflix and Hulu already and Amazon comes with my Prime subscription for delivery.

I wasn't really wanting to pay yet another subscription service. So I kept doing it via free trials and just binging it.

I think peoples tolerance is about 2 or 3 subs.
