The original was such a great surprise for me... loved that movie. I rank the second slightly behind it, but I do love the "expanded universe" aspect of Fishburn's character. This one looks like a masterpiece.
Definitely was him...I'm with the poster that thinks Halle lowers the expectations, I agree although I do appreciate her in tight leather but that only lasts for so long before you realize she can't act worth a lick.
Enjoyed the second, but thought the original was far superior.
The sequel was fun, but the first film is a just masterclass in storytelling. Sets everything up so incredibly well, doesn't give you too much along the way and introduces all these cool little elements, then builds beautifully and delivers.
The first is better, the second is great, but it isn't as good. So John Wick goes to the trouble of fulfilling his marker, even though he doesn't want to, just to end up killing Santino right in front of Winston on Continental grounds? John Wick, the man of focus, discipline, and sheer will loses it and kills the guy exactly where he shouldn't. This is why chapter 2 isn't as good as the first one, period.

In the first scene of that movie, destroys his car because his singular mission is to get his car back. John isn't a "consequences" guy. He's will personified.
John was singularly focused on killing Santino the moment he saw that chick in the catacombs. After killing half the city to escape to Morpheus, he get gets 7 bullets to finish the job. He turns that into the other half of the city, only to have Santino make it to the Continental where Santino basically tells him "I'm going to live here forever, bud".
Being a man of singular focus, John killed him anyway and damn the consequences. Whoever comes...whoever it is....I'll kill them. I'll kill them all.
I've never seen him in something serious so it will be interesting to see how his character will be. I'm used to Rafi, Dennis Feinstein, Derek, & Pimento type characters
