It was the same lawyer Midge and Susie hired in season one, played by Max Casella. The surprise is that he and Abe and seem to have a history. Either way, he's not a divorce lawyer.

Fun fact: Max Casella played the manager of the Gaslight in the Coen Brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis, essentially the same role Susie plays in this show. The sets looks almost identical as well (seeing they're both based on the real location).

Also, guys, no need to use spoiler tags this far after a show has debuted. For streaming shows, we usually only use spoiler tags on the first weekend or so.

I should have rewatched season 1. I had a lot of times that I had to look up a recap of what specific callbacks were.

My real question is what is going to happen to the kids.
She has kids?

Fairly certain their live-in nanny, Zelda, raises them. I wonder if the boy has a SAG card now that he's said a few lines in the show?

I finished the second season yesterday and am very impressed with the show. It is very entertaining all the way around.

When did Abe get so sour with his gig at Columbia?

Does it all stem from him learning about his son's importance with the CIA? Did he lose his mojo because he was doing everything out of a sense of superiority?

It just seems like it went south for no reason.

Yes it hurt his pride to know that the only reason he was hired was due to his son's job.

Silly but it fits Abe's character.

Wait, was he really hired because of his son? I got the impression that Abe was hired on his own merit, but then once he started the job, talked up his son so much that Bell Labs finally looked into hiring him and that's when they discovered he worked for the CIA. I could be wrong, though.

I took it as he got hired on his own merit too.

Also, I didn't take it as Abe got sour with his gig, but he colleagues got sour on him. He was high and might about being at Bell. That's why he was "asked" to take a sabbatical.

His mistake was acting too good for Columbia and taking about his project at Bell with his daughter.

I also found it interesting that his apartment was owned by Columbia. Tenure gave you many perks back then

Yes, Abe was too outwardly prideful about the funding for the Bell project. And he annoyed everyone at Bell talking about Noah until they basically had to tell him Noah can't work there because he's too important and Abe is a lackey. Abe felt bad. Then Abe discovers the CIA thing and realizes both of his children have been lying to him about their lives which leads him into some depression.

He loses his enthusiasm to teach because he feels insignificant when the Bell project dried up and that leads to the issues at Columbia.

That was my interpretation.

Glad so many people enjoy this show. I was afraid it was just my wife and me. Watched the 2nd season just over a week after it was rolled out. Definitely our favorite show on now.

Just finished season 2 last night and can't wait for season 3. Easily the best show in production right now for my taste. Did anyone else think the lawyer Abe met with at the end was a divorce lawyer? I know they are setting up him protecting his assets from Columbia and the breach of contract with Bell, but I could easily see Rose choosing to leave him after he told her all the bad news.

Thta was the same lawyer Lenny recommended to Midge in season 1. He's a free speech expert and counsel to radicals.

So...

Does Susie end up with Sophie or Midge? I think that Joel becomes the manager and the family stays together and Susie goes with Sophie.

Quite a lot of fodder for midge's act: her dad as a radical and her brother as a cia guy

My wife read an article that said this show is loosely based on Joan Rivers' life. Forgive me if that's been said here. I missed it.

I hadn't heard that about Joan Rivers, but could easily see that. I wonder if Joan and Lenny crossed paths during their careers?

This article says that Joan Rivers did know Lenny Bruce.
