I'm a huge Lost nut, so I'm always intrigued by these wannabes.
I think maybe this show is a victim of the modern attention span. I felt like they should have let it breathe more. It was just too much. It moved too fast. Lost was great because it introduced a central plot point (the crash) and focused on it and the people before it slowly introduced more thing. This pilot jammed too much in too fast. It should have let the initial mystery play out more. They land, appear to be on the ground for a couple minutes before someone pipes up "What's going on?" and the guy just freely delivers this uttering mind blowing thing to them. There should have been more push/pull in the situation to me.
But over all I'll give it a little to see where it goes.
There was actually a whole lot introduced in the pilot of lost:
Polar bear, the monster, the French broadcast...
I think the main difference is that the lost pilot was one of the best pilots ever made... Extremely well done in almost every aspect.
This was better than mediocre, but not great. I'll give it a few episodes.
I thought the plane exploding at the end was a really bold move...and the voiceover saying "it didn't want to be investigated" was extremely bold.
It's strange I know, but I feel like even more than the head voices, that hammered home the point that this show isn't going to be afraid to go paranormal.
