I wasn't insulting your choice. In fact, I've never heard of it. I was simply responding to OPs question, based on movies I've seen this year. They literally were about to cancel the movie until they found this guy.
The simple fact is that after you have seen a movie, you associate the person with the character. But there are a lot of good actors and actresses who can play most roles.
Having said that, for me the exception would be people who truly carved their own niche. Tough to see anyone other than Eastwood asking a criminal how many bullets he had left for instance. Though I guess Hackman could have done it with the facial expressions he has. Oh and, try to imagine someone else giving the performance jimmy Stewart gave in its a wonderful life. Maybe Henry Fonda?

Robert Shaw in Jaws. Chief Brody and Hooper could have been played by other actors and the movie wouldn't change much. I can't imagine anyone else playing Quint.
By the way, Speaking of IB and totally unrelated, I learned today that Melanie Laurent's dad is the voice of Ned Flanders on the French language Simpson's.aTmAg said:
