Edit: A beloved personality and travel show host passed away today. For many it feels like a good friend has been taken. I ask that everyone consider that several are still trying to process this.
To those new here we ask you enjoy yourself, read the clever and informative posts, but keep it light as this new, difficult reality will take time to process.

Howdy,
Some of you are political board fellas and you are pretty good guys, we're glad to have you. THANKS for your contributions.
Others of you have had some behavior problems and we're gonna have little talk.
First, let me tell you something about my, Daddy. He is a fairly smart man. Got himself a PhD in Civil Engineering, taught at Texas A&M, the University of Tennessee, and then Middle Tennese State. Finally he went into private consulting. He worked at some of the top Engineering firms in Texas and later the world.
He also had very strong conservative political views. He believed he knew right on everything. Anyone who disagreed had to be an idiot, a Philistine, but probably both.
My father was a brilliant engineer. But the toxic venom that dripped out when people disagreed or saw things differently got him run out of many prestigious positions.
HERE'S my point. Nobody cares what you know if you're an a__hole.
What I see here (particularly in the Harvey Weinstein thread and the two Star Wars threads) is two sides with their own system of beliefs.
But one side is letting the passionate way they feel close down discussions. It's deteriorating into a steady swamp of jabs, insults and moral judgements.
This Entertainment board is used by several guys from all walks. The mood is light and the topics are fun.
The lines between American entertainment and politics is becoming more blurry. On this board we notice it and we comment. BUT it does not become cause for civil war.
I've visit the politics board frequently. It's intense. This may be why were getting, well, political refugees. And some of y'all are naturally argumentative and you're looking for that here.
We're Texas Aggies, dammit! We're not some Rhode Island liberal arts college where people talk to each other like morons.
If you have a bug up your ass, fine, I do, too. But please discuss it with courtesy and refrain from going full throttle.
Adamantly arguing your irreversible convictions has never worked, it only pisses people off.
We're good guys. The kind you want to hang out with and talk about things of little significance. Because we all have jobs. We have families and bills and ambitions. We have heartaches and disappointments . We have a lot of significant issues to wrestle with already. We don't require them here unless a solution is in sight.
We don't require an angry debate as to the ecumenical ramifications of a Lando Calrissian who likes to f--k robots (that is very, very messed up though).
We DO NOT need to attack our fellow Ags who work in Hollywood. They know where they work. They lived in Texas several years so they know the social climate is very different. Hollywood is full of liberals and morally bankrupt people? No s__t. But that doesn't make them ALL evil and You WILL watch your mouth when you're talking to them.
And if those same guys wrote, produced and co-directed a movie called Miley Cyrus' Lesbian Adventures in Liberal Flag Burning World I would... I would never, ever, ever watch it. But I would congratulate them, be proud they made it happen and mail them a Texas care package. And if the bourbon was working I'd probably watch their movie anyway.
Because I would STILL like THEM. WHY? Because they're alright guys who treat me and others with respect. They're thouhtful and sincere. They're polite. They're intelligent. They think of what others may like -TCTTS in paticular.
Even if it's internet buddies you should always have your buddies back. I learned that in the US Navy SeaBees (WHOOP!) But also at Texas A&M.
Now I'm through fiddling with these militant discussions with their vailed hostility.
It's done.
If you can not listen to and respect the Entertainment Board members, we will simply ignore your posts and talk around them.
I love my Daddy, but I don't do moral bullies and and the other Ags here don't either.
All are welcome to post and enter discussions. You may even make make a tasteful political discussion and refer to social justice Warriors and comment on obeservatins of minorities flooding the film cast and how the women from The View are... just awful.
But THINK before you post. Ask yourself if you're comments will hurt the feelings of black or Latino Aggies. They're family, too... just harder to find. But they DO post here.
And the moment you start insulting, slamming.
Staff won't need to enforce your "ban"; we'll just talk around you.
My families Irish, we're VERY good at ignoring things we don't wanna deal with.
Your reputation here is yours to make. Make it a good one.
Welcome to the Entertainment board.
