1. Because that movie has been made like 100 times

2. Because Dennis Quade and BBT suck

Billy Bob Thornton does not suck.
Agree to disagree. Just because someone was good in a role 20 years ago doesn't mean they don't get the "suck" label after making trash films for the last decade

20 years ago all he had been i was Sling blade so I can only guess that's the good role you are referring to.

he has been in some pretty good stuff fairly recently.

Both Goliath and Fargo were very good TV roles. He won golden Globes for both of them.

And he was good in The Judge although it was a small role.

How about remaking it in the same style of The 300?

I remember it was filmed just outside Austin somewhere, and they had a hard time finding Hispanic extras (for the army scenes) that, um, "looked the part" of Mexicans that had been marching hundreds of miles.

Filmed at Reimer's Ranch on Hamilton Pool Road. I actually went in for a part to be a Mexican after I heard they needed more, but never heard back from them. Had a deep tan that summer from Lake Travis. Also later read, it was maybe a good thing they didn't call, only paid $100 day to march around in wool uniforms for 12-14 hours a day in the summer sun.

Months before I ran into some guys at a bar that were building the set. Sounded like they had fun, just traveled all over building movie sets.

Should've filmed closer to Houston.
