All the Money in the World

We just got back from seeing this movie and it's definitely in my Top 10 Best.

Dunkirk - favorite of the ones I saw.

Blade Runner - I just bought Blade Runner 2049 through Amazon streaming based on the recommendations here. Really the first Blade Runner is one of my all time favorite movies, but life got in the way of me seeing this one. Cost about 20 bucks but oh well. I'm just getting really close to the TV and pretending I'm in a theater.

Lady Bird - I didn't think this was as good as many, but it was made well. Just didn't care for the story all that much I suppose.

So i guess this is the moment where i realize that i only saw 4 movies this year.
Yeah same here. We're in a weird demographic however. I have three kids, one of whom is a teenager, so that figures in. Plus my wife is basically done with rated R movies. I actually agree with her basic premise, but sometimes a rated R is the only good movie out.

Wow. The Post is already out? We just saw them filming on the library steps at Columbia... July 27th.

Okay, time flies. My top ten:

1) Baby Driver - Tequila!

7) Spider-Man - son loved it
8) Logan - daughter loved it
9) Wonder Woman - forgot I saw this
10) Star Wars

In regard to The Post, didn't Spielberg say he made it with urgency and on short notice for everybody involved?

Thank you for allowing this dad of young kids to vicariously live through you guys all year. I don't even think I've watched ten movies total in the theaters the past three years.

But I do use the wisdom/reviews of this board to make sure I choose good ones when I do get the chance to watch one.
I've got a 4 year old and 2 year old twins and my wife and I have watched probably 25ish movies in the theater this year. Hire a baby sitter and get out!
Between sporting events, work schedules, kids schedules, and other date nights I am lucky to get to a handful all year long. ****s tough even with a sitter.

25 a year seems unrealistic for most parents of young kids.
We try to schedule a date night every week. I am determined to make sure my wife gets time away from the kids and a date night works really well. We probably have around 36-45 date nights a year.

I also do some minor contracting work for a local theater. As a result they classify me as an employee and my family and I get free tickets. We will take our kids to movies, too. They sit pretty well when we have popcorn (despite all being rambunctious boys). All said we probably go to the movies around 35-40 times a year.

Date nights are definitely important - ours are just more of the Netflix and chill variety.

I used to see on average 50-60 movies a year in the theater.
This is really impressive, tbh.

It's true. Soemtimes we get 2 in a week and sometimes we dont get any. We have a rotation of 3 girls who watch our boys (and occasionally the grandparents). I get home around 345 every day and I get a 3 day weekend every other weekend so i get lots of time at home.

Do what you can! That was us when he had just one. When the twins came we knew we had to get out more as a couple and enjoy time with just each other. You will be there when you finish your schooling.

Man I'd be a blimp if I went and saw that many. We get popcorn every time and I mow through a pack of Junior Mints and Reeses Pieces usually.

yeah in my younger days i would have something like that too....these days i sneak in my own diet drink and don't buy any food/candy. sometimes i bring a snack bar or peanut pack. my wife eats an apple and brings water.

I definitely have to see the post.

Here is some Hollywood magic sprucing up Columbia's library.

Top a photo during some part of the filming. Bottom what it looks like in the trailer.

LOVED The Post. It didn't top Dunkirk for me, but is probably somewhere in the 2-5 range

I've been trying to find time, it's on Amazon now I believe?

1. Blade Runner 2049.
2. Guardians of the Galaxy 2
3.Mother!
4. Dunkirk
5.War for the Planet of the Apes
6. Logan
7.The Big Sick
8. The Shape of Water
9. Baby Driver
10. Get Out

Edit: another honorable mention: John Wick Chapter 2

Honorable Mention: The Last Jedi some stuff just straight up doesn't work,(Canto Bright Finn/Rose, some of the humor),but I'll be damned if this isn't the most thematically and intellectually interesting Star Wars film since Empire.

Still Haven't Seen:

1.Call me by your name.
2. The post

Yep, that's how I watched it. And well worth your time.

Glad to see I'm not the only one. Even if this movie didn't resonate with people, the last 30 minutes is so bonkers and such a technical achievement that it's worth it for that part alone. I personally loved it, and its stuck with me the most of anything this year. Even more so than Blade Runner.

Yeah I can see why people hate it, but it's absolutely brilliant in its construction and in what it says about humanity, religion, and innocence. I don't know if it was discussed on here or not, but it famously received an F audience review which is rare because it was marketed as a horror film which it isn't.

Just finished it a minute ago. It's fantatic. Easily top 5 for me.

The Top 10 of all movies I saw in the theater...

1. Guardians of the Galaxy 2, not quite as good as the first one
2. Star Wars the Last Jedi, cool effects plot was meh
3. Boss Baby, awful.

4 - 10...None.

My kids have virtually no desire to go to the movies, only saw Star Wars because one of the kids was invited to a birthday party and they needed some adults to keep track of the kids.

Boss Baby was terrible, that's what happens when your 9 year old gets to pick a movie and you have 4 hours to kill between baseball games.

1. Thor: Ragnarok
2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2
3. Wind River
4. Wonder Woman
5. Atomic Blonde
6. Baby Driver
7. Dunkirk
8. Justice League
9. Fifty Shades Darker

Damn that's depressing. I use to make at least 20 movies a year at the theater, now with 2 kids under the age of 3 and I can't even make 10.

I really liked Atomic Blonde, actually watched it the same day as Baby Driver. Thought it was a really fun adventure, plus Charlize is probably my #1.
