New info (to me) from Wikipedia about the movie Fandango

Quote:

Fandango is a 1985 American comedy film directed by Kevin Reynolds. It was originally a student film titled Proof made by Reynolds while he was attending USC film school. It was a parody of Greek life at his alma mater Baylor University. However, due to his father's presidency at Baylor, he did not wish to portray the Baptist institution in an unfavorable light and gave it the alternative distinction as the University of Texas.

Here's some more trivia for you:

Some scenes of the movie were filmed near El Paso while I was living there. My brother-in-law and several of his buddies got to be stand-ins for several of the stars. I believe the BIL was for Costner.

One of my favorite movies.

There is a small group of devoted fans that makes an occasional trip to follow the filming sites, etc..... around big bend area, marfa, etc.

Has 6 or 7 genuinely classic moments in it....skydiving kills me, the train, of course the wedding reception is the capper so genuinely west texas and perfect.

Wow, I didn't know that either. Years ago, I paused the movie looking for I-35 points of reference, but I didn't recognize anything.

I saw that! Roughly 10 or so years ago. Seemed kind of pleasant to me, I guess because there was no vehicular traffic. LOL.

On my next holiday, I'll see if Google Street View might coincide with the movie.

I happen to know that there is a bottle of Dom in a wooden box buried somewhere on a campus in Texas, waiting for class reunion. There is a note saying if found, please put it back, and watch the movie Fandango.

Another fun fact... Williams was partially responsible for the beginning, and end of Costner's career.
