OP, it appears you like spiritual music, like Strumbellas' "Spirits". Try giving these spiritual friendly songs a listen:

Shootyz Groove, L-Train:

Kings X, We Were Born To Be Loved:

i'd say not obscure since they are playing a string of sold-out shows, but you are correct in that they are fantastic.

Some amusing choices of "obscure" here. Almost every artist listed has at least a YouTube presence, which is not terribly obscure given how popular that media platform is. But it's best not to expect discovery on Texags.

surprised it took this long for you to show up.

you probably knew all these bands before youtube was invented. you were watching their videos on VHS.

Dude, I was in an original band that never left Houston, and we had a youtube presence. I'd say, if you don't have a youtube presence, you aren't even a band yet.

Terrible analysis.

7 years and 4 albums later.. the band is still pretty obscure, but has consistently put out top notch music.

New album drop a few weeks ago.. I've had 4-5 listens.. some great songs.

Blackberry Smoke seems to perform well on the charts, but nobody I know seems to have ever heard of them. "Let it Burn" is my absolute favorite song right now.

Great topic, love finding obscure and less known bands. I have a hell of a long list of bands that aren't known to the wider public, and ranges from all types of music (indie, industrial, death metal, stoner rock). I listen to about everything minus country and rap.

My current offerings of lesser known bands (most are still not together and only release a few albums).

Jurrasic Shark - Not together anymore but their two albums are fantastic top to bottom
Deer tick - Still together. Last several albums are not good. But the early stuff written by singer/song writer John McCauley are legit. He wrote War Elephant in High School. Divine Providence, Black Dirt Sessions, and Born of Flag day show Deer Tick at their best
Two Gallants - No longer together. Awesome live. Same as Deer Tick where the early albums are awesome. The Bloom And the Blight my favorite album, but Two Gallants (self titled) and What The Toll Tells are solid albums.
Peach Pit - More pop Indie, but like the sound. All three albums are good.
Fontaines DC - 3 months ago you could claim they are unknown, but starting to explode onto the scene with their last album Romance. Great band from Ireland. First three albums are really good as well.
Twilight Sad - Scottish band discovered during the last Cure concert (opening act). Three albums are really good as well.

Rattlesnake Milk - Came across these guys and they're pretty damn good. Kinda of a quirky mix of southern rock, western chill, and surf music.

Scott H. Biram - AKA Dirty little one man band. Dude just rocks. Plays blues with a heavy rock/punk influence. Helluva musician

Jesse Roper - Really like this guy's sound. Good easy listening that sounds a lot like Nathaniel Ratliff and Shaky Graves.
