Hurt Locker.....ugh. Just wow.....anyone in the army i know has hated that movie. and there are easily 5 or 6 better nominated that year (Up, Up In the Air, District 9, Inglorious Basterds, Precious).
Shakespeare in Love - decent movie, good even worthy of some of its awards but not best picture and not bette than Saving Private Ryan.
I disliked the following movies that all won Best Picture - not one of them is the type I ever wanted to see again which is kind of the barometer for me generally (exceptions are like Schindler's List which was amazing but I also didn't ever want to see again...I've seen it since it parts thats all I can take).
it started in the 80s.....
Chariots of Fire - bullet to the head painful (Reds was a better movie that year)
Amadeus - not horrible but meh (The Killing Fields was much better)
Out of Africa - dry at bet, meh (the Color Purple, Witness, even Prizzi's honor were better)
Driving Miss Daisy - good lord boring as hell (every single other nominated pic was better Born on the 4th of July, Dead Poets Society, Field of Dreams, My Left Foot)
the 90s got a lot better except for this....
The English Patient - i despise this movie completely (Fargo was so much better)
I really haven't minded many since then....
Crash someone mentioned but there was nothing great that year (sorry not Brokeback Mountain even that is highly overrated, Good Night and Good Luck was very good, Capote had one great performance for sure, Munich was good...just not a standout best pic that year.
